Sutton appoints Sutton to coach Origin

Gerard Sutton has been appointed to referee in Origin 1. The league hand picks the officials through the referees appointments committee, run by Senior Manager of Officiating Bernard Sutton, who is responsible for the elected referee lineup.
'We took into account form, consistency and experience when nominating the officiating group,' Sutton told www.nrl.com
'Gerard Sutton has been in excellent form over the opening rounds the season and will take that form into the opening Origin game.'

Surely they cannot be serious as both Officials have been in the headlines this year for the wrong calls and decisions that costs one team two points. Funny enough the 3 games that were in question all involved the Broncos in which they were the team to get the two points....

It's disgusting that they put the absolutely incompetent Klown in there and relegate Ceccin to second ref in the NRL this weekend. Obviously Klown is part of their bumlick clique and Ceccin speaks his mind. I have had issues with Ceccin over the years (for doing things like binning JWH for swearing) but he is miles ahead of the rest of them.

Hadley was suggesting on the radio yesterday that Sutton is homophobic and Ceccin won't get a fair go because he is gay.

Don't know who appointed the ref for the World Cup final last year, but Ceccin missed out because he made the right decision (calling a Tonga knock-on) without going upstairs.

Ceccin was clearly a valid option to ref Origin, but the ref's boss appoints his own brother? Hmmm.
