  • Three teams held to zero so far this year - two of them by us

Good sign and brings to mind the record five zeroes in 2013 - one can only hope

With Manly beating the Broncos convincingly, I think it is important to remember that holding any NRL team to 0 is a mean feat. Zero really does mean zero points in 80 minutes...

While it's nice to hold sides to zero, it's not something the team should focus on imo. Let's focus on good defence rather than needing to keep teams to zero. Then if our defence comes close to the 2013 side, maybe we can think about it.

I mean this in the sense that it's pointless as an aim if the boys crack as soon as a few points are leaked. Id rather them be able to refocus.

He was pretty bullish in the presser. Mentioned the ''Rooster's way'' a few times. I think that's one in the eye towards the critics.

Oh true... it should not be our goal per se. However, I think its an indication of solid defence.

PS - we had less offloads than the last few weeks. 5!!! NZ had 15. All up its our 78% completion rate and 5 line breaks (to warriors zero) that seem to have won the game for us.

If we are gonna focus on something, I reckon getting completions up to 80% or more would be awesome. I have noticed our completion rate creeping up over the past few weeks. Much more important that pulling off a heap of desparate offloads IMO.

It’s the BIG game motivation where he lacks.
The 1% ers as they say.
Injured bench wingers in sudden death semi finals is a curious selection.
                ..it’ll be interesting to see

Spot on. The jury is still out for mine.

Congratulations to the Roosters, players and coaches, on a good performance against a worriers side who were, it should be said, playing without two of their best players.

Didn't know that and it is a good sign. As others have said, get the defence right as much as they can but don't let it bother you if the other team scores (like the dragqueens early on in the Anzac Day game).

The defence has been great. The combo's will keep developing for our attack. Life support has been turned off, but we are still not out of hospital yet.............

This team beat the Dragons, who are supposedly the standard this season. We beat them 32-0.

I reckon the season has just opened right up...

When they beat the Dragons Luke played the game of his life and the rest went with him. He wasn't there yesterday. They were also flogged by Melbourne, so comparisons are difficult to take any real info from. We played well and it was our forwards aggression, our defence and our completion rate that got us the win, and that's great to see.
I don't think they focus overly on going out and getting a ZERO, they focus on doing their best in defence, and sure if that results in a ZERO it is a great result as it shows they maintained their attitude in defence for the full 80 minutes.
