  • Cleary Package Deal

Lurker reporting a package deal for Nathan and Ivan to come to the Roosters is in the works.

I thought the club would have this at the back of their head as soon as Cronk signed for 2 years. Tigers won't want to let Ivan go though.

    Wow.
If that actually happens, could Trent remain on staff as a defensive coach?

Wouldn't that be ideal. No doubt some club in turmoil would snap up Trent though. I'm a Trent believer and I think he's a great coach but I think only the absolute all-time great coaches can maintain success at a club for over a decade and I think come 2020 Trent's time will be up. ESPECIALLY if he doesn't win one in the next two years.

TIT could move up to a Football Manager role like Gus, whatever that role is..

I wouldn’t believe it if the Lurker said the sky was blue; the only tkmr
he gets it right is when someone else said it first.

I Hope he is correct for once I want Nathan Cleary as our future I can take it or leave it when it comes to Ivan

Agree that he's usually wrong but not a surprising rumour at all. There's no way that moving Pearce on, signing Cronk until end of 2019, and Cleary coming of contract at the end of 2019 that the club wasn't at least thinking about getting Cleary for 2020 the moment they signed Cronk and Pearce left.

This rumour has been around since the off season. Lurker mentioning it makes it less likely imo, the guy has a very low strike rate.

                Why would it be ideal?

Swapping a premiership winning coach for one who's never won jack shit, and got sacked from his last job doesn't make a lot of sense to me....

OK, he turned the Tigers around, but lets face it - they couldn't get any worse.

I was referring to a situation where if the club signs Ivan, then Trent staying on for defence would be ideal.

What does he mean the Panthers couldn't match the Roosters in a bidding war for Nathan's services? Hasn't he heard of the salary cap? Sounds like a BS rumour.

No one's tenure as coach of the roosters is guaranteed, but it's a bit soon to be writing Robbo's obituary.

I would take Cleary and lose Robbo. Clearly looks every bit an Australian halfback for the next 10 years.

                        Awesome news if it happened!
                        Cleary in for Cronk.
                        Half back
                        Goal Kicker
                        Club Captain (later)

                        Throw in Gillard-Campbell as well.

I wouldn't be surprised if Cronk has something in his contract about coaching at the club in some capacity after retirement.

Anyone who is currently in good form is always linked to the Roosters. I still remember the Terror's full-size front page photo of Rhys Wesser with a big 'HANDS OFF RHYS!' headline. Everyone slagged us off, of course, for trying to poach Penrith In the end, he was never approached.

                              Old "rumour" news

Has the Lurker ever got anything right?
