  • Possible new coaches

There has been a lot of talk that Robbo’s days are numbered. If they are, and if you believe they should be, let’s look at a few possible replacements.

Geoff Toovey - It is known that Toovey wants to coach in the NRL again, and given his record with Manly is a tough coach who isn’t afraid of dropping players.
Pros: Definitely available, good record, will take ownership of the team
Cons: We may find ourselves out of pocket because of his press conferences

Craig Bellamy - Bellamy has hinted that he may not be coaching the Storm beyond this year, although it is hard to see that happening if Smith plays on.
Pros - Proven achiever, won’t cop the same stupid mistakes and terrible completion rate each week, would work well with Cronk.
Cons - Probably won’t leave Melbourne, may not be the same coach without Smith in his team.

Ivan Cleary - Cleary may not have as good a record as other candidates, but what he has done with the Tigers shows what a great coach he is.
Pros - Would be easy to lure over considering he played for us, could possibly snag Nathan Cleary the year after next (once Cronks deal is done)
    Cons - No prior success

Paul Green - Green’s cowboys have had a rough start to the year, but what he did with them last year from 8th place while they were missing Thurston was amazing
Pros- Has shown he can coach, might want to return to where he won the comp as an assistant.
Cons- The Cowboys not doing well could be observed as Green not being as effective when Thurston isn’t doing well.

There is also another candidate in Trent Robinson, but I won’t go into depth about him considering he is already the coach.
If you think I have missed anyone, or if you don’t agree with the pros and cons, let me know down below. In my opinion Geoff Toovey is the best option, then Ivan Cleary, Bellamy, Green and Robbo in last place.

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results

I don't understand how Toovey would be the best option. There is one other thing to consider, an ability to attract the best players. Who do you think players would rather play for? Toovey, Bellamy, Cleary or Green? IMO it would be Bellamy.

      Robbo thanks.

Speculate all you like but Robbo is the right man for the job and won’t be going anywhere

Rumblings (fake news or not) have started to sound off with the possibility of Ivan Cleary coming on-board as Coach either within the next year or sooner and his son Nathan Cleary to join his Dad with him or later. At the end of the 2019 season which also happens to be the same time-frame that Nathan's contract expires at Penrith, the Roosters will require a new #7 (half-back) to replace Cooper Cronk. So Ivan becomes the new coach !, his son joins and becomes our new half-back !?

        WHAT A PACKAGE ! ... FATHER & SON COMBO !

Now this is all subject to whether Robbo survives this and next season, Nathan has also said he will NOT rush into signing anything or extending and just wants to recover and play consistent footy for the time being.

Ivan has a connection to the Roosters as he has played for the Chooks before, what son wouldn't want to follow his Dad and play for the same club as he did ?, become Brad Fittler 2.0 and become another quality halves player to "again" leave Penrith ? (just like Freddy did), to be be coached under one if not two of the best halfbacks of all time (Cronk and Johns who will be the halves specialist coaches) ?

How is this not surreal yet a possibility for the Roosters ?

NEW COACH + NEW HALFBACK = 2020 Roosters season

Tooves LOL you blokes have lost it.

          What did Tooves ever win?

All I see is an angry ant who loses the plot worse than our own Tommy Smiff. I do love your work though Tommy.

          Mental.

I want Chris Anderson back. Then we can at least justify being shit. Matthew Elliott can be his deputy.

Instead of The "Dream" Team of RL coaching you've presented The "Nightmare" Team.

Strangely I like both characters, shame we never saw the best of either at our club.

Bring back Smithy to complete the axis of terrible coaches. I remember in 2011 when he said he didn't think it was important to put an emphasis on fitness training in the off season. In his words, he treated the first couple months of the season as part of his pre-season.

                    Steve Kearney.
That breathing thing the Warriors are doing after they have scored or whenever there is a break in play is working wonders. I think it will catch on & all clubs will do it. The Chooks should start it next week.

                      LOL Smiffy was a classic.

I do see what hes getting at but that's out there even for him. Considering his brother is a very good trainer of footballers even more so.

I wished Smiffy could get a gig commentating. Great footy brain and very good temperament for a stats man on those Fox shows.

                          I believe that's a 'wet patch' mate.

I reckon Wayne looks like an old Rooster/Chook. He could double as the team mascot.

Waynekerr is Clint Eastwoods brother from another mother.

                              Both act like Coqqs.

I can see a job sharing scheme in the pipeline.
