  • so many conspiracy theories floating around

geez there are some very good rumours doing the rounds at the moment, although I believe 99% of them are rediculous, you can't deny some of the recent events such don't feel right and are extremely coincidental.

    - Myles/FPN/Carney publicly go out and flaunt a drinking rampage less than a week after agreeing to a booze ban (this smells of players wanting to get out of the club)

    - A News LTD employee is conviently positioned to take photos of them leaving a pub (way too convient was it a News sting or did someone want to be caught)

    - SBW out of the blue turns down a healthy contract offer from both the NZ Rugby Union and several of their provincial teams (wouldn't be hard for uncle nick to work out of compensation package with the Bullscum and use the money from Carney's contract to sign him for 2012)

    - rumours floating around that the club has been sounding out player managers to see who is available for 2012 (Nathan Gardner suddenly rebels at Cronulla)

    - a couple of weeks ago after being linked to the Roosters Quade Cooper comes out and says he is a long time Roosters fan and would love to play in the same side as SBW (very convient wonder how tight his 2012 contract is with ARU, if not definately 2013)

    - all of a sudden Dugan is rumoured to be moving to the Dogs instead of the Roosters (maybe we haven't actually signed him for 2013)

    - a couple of months ago it was rumoured FPN wanted to return to New Zealand (maybe his recent actions can expediate his release)

regardless of what rumours are true or not it seems we are headed for a turbulent offseason with plenty of change likely.

finally we would be crazy to sack Carney without either a high quality player lined up to take up his cap space or a guarantee from the NRL that he would be banned until his exisiting Roosters deal is up.

if we sack Carney it would take seconds before half the NRL sides got on the phone to try and sign him.

fletch, you are one of my favourite posters, I always look out to read what you write on here compared to many others here.

But I disagree with one thing you said. Its not crazy to sack carney if there is no backup plan. He needs to be sacked and sacked quickly. It doesnt matter if we put a neville nobody in his place, we cant really get any worse than this year anyway. The decision to sack him should be made on his pathetic attitude and disrespect for his club and teammates. It should have nothing to do with whether there is any backup plan in place.

fred68, I actually want Carney gone but what I don't want is to give another club a leg up, I get the feeling quite a few of our players have had enough of Smith and are willing to anything to get out, we can't stop the likes of Myles and maybe FPN if he gets dumped but i'm sure we could put enough pressure on Gallop to ban Carney again.

Don't agree with a lot of what you come up with Fred, but I'm with you here. His position in the team is untenable. He has lost the respect of his team mates and needs to go. People say a coaches has to go when he loses the dressing room, thats what has now happened to Carney.

Agree with a lot already said. However, the real issue is as Fletch mentioned, once we sack him he will sign with someone else immediately and probably do very well. It is so frustrating really. I supported him in the past but it now longer seems viable to do so. It is pretty obvious that he does not care. Sadly it is time for him to go and we are just going to have to deal with the consequences.

Maybe for a year then he will settle into his old ways.

Probably Ozzy but it is such a tremendous waste of potential. As bad as he has been on the field this year he was truly spectacular last year. So many of us were delighted and inspired by what he did last year. Sadly it seems he is going to turn out to be another Craig Field kind of guy.

Although i was initially worried Carney might go to another Club and come back to haunt us,i am now happy for him to go wherever he wants!
He had an awesome oppurtunity at our Club to become one of the greats, but was too weak minded to make the most of it.
I have no doubt in my mind that any Club he will go to the same will eventually happen.
My only concern is Anasta at 5/8th,i wish we had another option.
Their will be no excitement over the off season knowing that a new season will start with that hack as our no.6!
                    Hope Littlejohn gets an oppurtunity

IF the club decides to cut the rope and axe TC i pray Gallop de-registers him for 2012. All CEO's swear they won't sign him because
that's obviously the moral thing to say at the moment.....well, our despised neighbours are preparing to move heaven & earth to take
him onboard if allowed to play next season. Typically, Fatso Ritcho will deny it citing salary cap restrictions (JUST LIKE HE DID WITH INGLIS) but they are looking on with interest.

Yet it was Braith Anasta that kicked the field goal to get into the grand final this time.

Carney will just sign with some QLD team and be on the drink 24/7 but will never hear anything about it and he will go on to win the Dally M again and a premiership.

N, ah I think Carney is Done.
Roosters will just have to follow contractual obligations and take their steps carefully through this.
Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe
