  • Someone explain to me....

How after 4 rounds a team of misfits that has been put together in the last few months from scratch like The Tigers have a completion rate of 126 and non completion of 32....compared to the Roosters who have only completed 97 sets yet have a whopping non completion rate of 48?
Im thinking back to last year when Robbo alarmingly said at a post game interview something to the effect of "not being concerned about the high error rate because we always compete on the big plays". Well guess what Robbo you better be concerned now about the high error rate because the year over achieving in 2017 is long gone and the reality is if this squad cant catch and hold the football then we can forget about making the semi finals let alone winning the comp. I ask why has this been such a problem for the last 4 years? Are the players not prepared skill wise or is it just poor attitude/concentration?

Another area that concerns me that someone may have a answer for. In 2017 Taukeiaho was our best forward playing on the edges and consistently making huge inroads into oppositions defence . Who the bloody hell made the decision to take him out of that role and move him into the front row in the centre of the field? Yes the Roosters need a battering ram or 2 but screwing TKO's game by throwing him into the front row isn't the answer. Go scout the UK or look for a out of favour meat head like Junior Paoulo before the transfer cut off

The answer to your question is Ivan Cleary....

Interesting answer that. What with the long standing issues with the Roosters not being fixed, I'm inclined to agree with you.

We need Ivan Cleary to come over and say " hey guys hold the ball"?? This is a guy who had a great roster at Penrith for 3 years and only managed a 47% win record before being punted

I am certain Robbo does tell his team repeatedly "don't drop the ball", I am guessing Cleary doesn't.
Having them concerned about making mistakes only leads to mistakes.

Robbo's boring safety first football is creating a lot of mistakes when in theory it shouldn't. Just let the team play football, let them throw the ball around and possibly make mistakes but at least they would gain confidence.

The answer my well be Ivan Cleary. He is not under the same pressure as Robbo and it shows.

Of course he isn't. Everyone expected them to be bottom 4. Imagine if the roles were reversed and people were saying he had failed if he didn't win the comp with his squad. He then might feel a little pressure.

No...that would just be (sand)papering over the cracks..

Tigers play a very conservative style of football. That type of play is very conducive to early round football, it's why some teams look like absolute superstars early on in the season and then just seemingly fall away when the real teams are just starting to warm up.

The Tigers have absolutely nothing to lose and they'll only gain admirers from their early season form but lets see what they're doing in another dozen rounds when you need a little bit more than just ball control in attack to win a game.

I feel like the Roosters play more conservative then the Tigers.
Our forwards hit the ball up one out and never look to offload, the Tigers are always looking for offloads.
The Tigers have nothing to lose but we don't have anything to lose either because the worst that can happen is we drop the ball which we already do now anyhow.

But Yes I agree the Tigers will fall away later in the season because basically they are all reserve graders playing at a level they can't maintain for 26 rounds.
