Kings Cross nightclub boss and Sydney Roosters fan John Ibrahim supports suspended Todd Carney
    By Lisa Davies
The Daily Telegraph April 20, 2011 7:45AM ShareTodd Carney had at least one high-profile supporter - Kings Cross nightclub boss Sydney and Roosters fan John Ibrahim.

The Eastern Suburbs identity has posted two messages on Twitter backing Carney.

Ibrahim previously only ever posted four Twitter messages since he opened his account last year.

But on Tuesday, Ibrahim issued two messages of support for Carney, asking Roosters fans to stand by him.

"Don't give up on Carney, he needs help, he has the potential to be one of the great players of our time," the first message read. Two minutes later, he backed up the support: "Carney needs the support and guidance that only the NRL and the Roosters can give to really get his life sorted."

Carney and teammate Anthony Watts were partying at Ibrahim's nightclub Trademark early on Sunday. The Roosters on Tuesday suspended both players indefinitely.

Watts is facing the sack while there is concern Carney's erratic behaviour relates to a more serious health concern.

Carney could be rested for the remainder of the season as the club awaits further medical advice relating to his condition.

Ibrahim spokesman Stephen Alexander confirmed Ibrahim was the author of the messages.

Roosters boss Steve Noyce said the club would be guided by medical professionals to determine Carney's rehabilitation process.

"Todd Carney hasn't been accused of anything unlawful, he has, however, broken club rules and failed the goals he set himself," Noyce said.

"In regards to Todd, the club's next step will be subject to professional and medical advice that we are in the process of obtaining."

Noyce was adamant that the cases regarding the two players were being treated as separate issues after the pair went on a long drinking session lasting until 4am on Sunday morning
