Official Match Thread - Sydney Roosters vs Newcastle Knights
After watching a lot of games, I’m more concerned about the refs. We have the best team and should win by heaps but refs this year seem to be trying to keep matches close. A lot of teams have lost close matches by wrong ref decisions.
We need to go on a scoring spree today and take the game away from ref manipulation. Otherwise they’ll have us back peddling all day to get their ‘close match’.
the knights aren’t our problem. Brisbane illegally won a game that should have gone to the video ref. Refs are as corrupt as they come. I wonder how much in bonuses are refs getting for ‘tight, close and unpredictable’ matches. I imagine it’s quite generous.
I want to see the best team win not manipulative stupid ref deciions deciding the outcome.
You're right. They are deciding it. I've had a lazy weekend and watched most of the games. There is one team who is getting heavily favoured with penalty after penalty and that momentum is proving impossible to overcome. Storm, Sharks, Raiders (before the inevitable imploding), Rabbitohs and Bulldogs both with the obstruction calls... all getting the edge in the end. I thought this inside the 10 was the weekends rage, but Sharks were offside the entire match. Cummins.
That said, its not Newcastle or Sutton i'm worried about. I think next week is the danger game.
Yaaaay this is my calling... HALF TIME STREAK!!! Everybody NEEDS to see my bony white bottom and hairy beer gut. Might even get a glimpse of the family jewels... if you are lucky.

They have been massaging the game results for a few years now. It is true that a very tight finish makes for great viewing, but the lustre will dull if every game result is a one point difference. The NRL would be happiest if each team had 13 co-captains denying responsibility, à la Steve Smith and his magical 'leadership group'.
I believe that this game will probably be tight for the first 10 and then we will literally destroy them (34+). A lot are worried that Newcastle's former Roosters will have brilliant games in order to make a spiteful statement. If they do, which I highly doubt, then it will only compound the fact that we made the right decision in releasing them. Nobody has mentioned that the new players in our team may also have the same desire to deliver an exceptional performance today, in order to make a similar point.
Could be a controversial or weird game.If a play the ball indiscretion decides the game against us I will be livid. That penalty in golden point time to the Broncos was a square up for all match officials getting that broncos try wrong. Sportsbet and Ch 9 the winners on the night. Cleary in the presser was reservedly mortified by the call and handled the media extremely well.

I thought the no try for Jack Bird was a correct call against the Bronx.
The offside at marker call was completely against the way Golden Point time is usually reffed...so a shocker for the Tiges.

Yes Jack a real shocker. Today’s wind a westerly and it brings weird energy. (I am not into aromatherapy etc) and rain is also on its way for 6pm .
i truly want a win today to shut the tabloid sports callers and scribes up - the novacastrian romanticism is way over the top. I suspect the powers that be will favour the Tin Men this year due to being competitive and having a large fan base.

.
This has been happening for years Roosterchook. It's an nrl directive. They invented the term game manager to describe refs in the first place.People think I'm crazy for banging on about it.
I might be crazy..........but it's still the truth.
My nerves are shot at the moment.
I'm worried a close match will give me a heart attack, especially if there is any game manager controversy..
I'd rather Cooper Cronk spoke at my funeral than Mitchell Pearce.

You killed my father
Prepare to die
Love that movie!
As for the game as a general rule if we think we'll win well then it'll be tough. And yet, I'm still super confident.
