  • The Real Worrying Sign From Tonight

Before you jump down my throat with "its round one" let me just say that i agree.. it is... and tbh it takes time to gel with combos etc.. but.. the big worrying sign has nothing to do with combos or gelling.. when we signed Cronk we didnt just do it for his passing and kicking.. we signed him for his leadership and his ability to direct a team around the park, where was that today? Pearce wasnt perfect but I dont remember a game where we played as bland as we did today.. atleast last season we were messing up while throwing the ball around... tonight we felt so 1 dimensional and that worries me.. not the lack of combo experience. the announcers were trash but 1 thing they said stood out "The Roosters look rudderless" and I agree... and that is something i didnt think i would say with Cooper Cronk in the team... i hope that changes soon.

      Boo!!!
Roy Master wrote about it today. Players smiling after losses are frowned upon. I took note. Cronk is one bloke of thirteen.
      ..it’ll be interesting to see

So was mitchell... yet he was blamed for almost every loss last season.

You’re absolutely right. Our whole attack has been built around Pearce for a long time now.

I think we have massively unrealistic expectations on Cronk and it will backfire badly.

I said this last year.. the worrying thing about Cronk is his age... and IMO him being around players who he had played with for so long may have masked some of his faults because he played by instinct.. its a real concern.

Agreed. No direction, no spark except for Fergo and hardly anything other than one out stuff with very little attempt to create something. The Tigers played well with the players they had and no Reynolds to steer them with Brooks but they weren’t that good and if we couldn’t put more than eight on them it’s not looking good for when we play sides boasting a lot more opposition than one of the sides tipped for the spoon.

I dont buy buy for one second the ‘it’s only round one’ justification. It’s every sides round one. There will be 8 winners from it and we weren’t good enough to be one of them and it could cost us later in the season where more than likely it’s going to be a log jam for a spot in the 4.

I assume you mean Pearce, not Latrell.

I only blame Pearce for Origin

Cronk is obviously good enough to influence a team that doesn't include camel smith.
But he needs first grade standard service from dummy half.

"The Roosters look rudderless" I too agree, but the reason we are rudderless is that we don't have a leader or a captain or a leader as a captain. Cronk may morph into the same player he was for Melbourne, barking direction and orders to all and sundry, but Cordner and Friend are far from the type of captain that we need.

We just thought we had to show up to win. Proven wrong.

what a load of shit ...Jake over played his hand again gave his 5/8th nothing.....Cronk as far as Im concerned put on 3 plays to win the game or score points and our nimrods missed the beat.
Andrew Johns was right its gonna take time for them to adapt to Cronk.
As crappy as we were dont think badger was doing us any favours.
Drop Napa now he is atrocious. Plays like he dont give a shit

Friend is overplaying his hand just by running onto the field. Most of his dummy half passing was clearly forward, and that will be used in the future by the referees whenever they wish to punish us.

and his running sideways and cutting out the halves.Thought we were a little better when Radley was on as he went forward and fed the ball.
We missed Keary badly .Felt sorry for Cornish was always pushed really wide by jake no room to do shiit
