  • My first letter to the club

After yesterdays effort, I felt compelled to write to the club. That was one of the worst attacking performances I have ever seen....any hint that we didn't play to bad is WAY off the mark.

This is the first time I have ever felt compelled to contact the club in regards to the team I support regarding their on field performance. Yesterday’s game against the Sea Eagles was truly depressing. To see a team play so poorly is totally unacceptable and to have the coach and the captain at the post match conference offer nothing, once again, as to what the issue is not encouraging.

The attack the Roosters offer is one dimensional. I wonder what the opposition thinks is going to happen when Perrett is at dummy half? I can tell them, he will run the ball. I wonder what the opposition thinks when SKD is at dummy half? I can tell them, he will run the ball.

I wonder what the opposition thinks will be the option on the fifth tackle if we are in their 40? I can tell them, we will put up a bomb and hope for the best.

I wonder if the opposition bother studying any of our set plays and then find that there are none. No decoys runners, no cut out passes, only one out passes and hope defence will miss a tackle. Just get the backs to run out of our own 20 and then give a forward a run every now and then and ensure that he has no back up just in case he can get an arm free and offload.

The best thing Smith could do is dump the defence training this week. In places we don't look to bad. Our attack is truly embarrassing week after week. Even when we jag a win it is because the team we are playing is worse than us.

The body language between Braith and Smith at the post match conference shows a club in decline. The one thing that stays constant is the fans support but that is wearing thin. Yesterday, for the first time ever, I was going to turn the TV off and do something else other than watch the rubbish the team was dishing up.

Only a few weeks to go until the season is over, it is time to at least look like they know what they are doing. The only time we do look threatening is when we are 20+ points behind with 7 minutes to go. We try a few things that we should have done 7 minutes in. Notice the word I use "we". I am part of this team but I have had a gut full of watching week after week the below par performances we deliver. Something has to change.

    Regards,

    John

Good letter John and well done for writing it as I have thought many times this year that I should do the same but haven't.

Noyce did ring me yesterday morning and said that the effort seen this weekend will be better than last weekend. THEN the news story breaks. I feel for that bloke, he must not sleep very well at night....

I appreciated that a bloke of his position took the time to talk to a lowly supporter like myself.

You should have waited to sendout your letter john

But you are right, While some may thing that Noyce is a lackey and towing company line when he comes out to talk to the supporters regarding their concerns, the fact is, he does it, not as once off's but as an on going thing to any correspondence he receives.

Considering that there are currently bigger problems at the club, the fact he still calls up and talks to the fans.
