Because the roosters don’t exist in some vacuum outside of the nrl. And most of us roosters fans enjoy nrl and reading about nrl news, particularly about past, present and future roosters players.

Geez you talk a lot of garbage. Pearce is a terrific signing for a club like Newcastle. I gave them no hope of making the 8 next year. With Pearce they are a chance. He wasn’t the right player for our squad going forward, but the knights are desperate for a player of his ability and experience.

Salary cap is effectively about 9,4m. Some clubs were budgeting for 10m and NFL originally low balled it at about 8.5-9m Inc lsl allowances.

There is no way Ponga is on a million a year. He signed about 12 months ago before the salaries went out of control. $3m for 4 years originally 5 but that' figure is over the odds (probably includes 3rd party deals not under the cap)and I believe it's backended to an extent. Watson is on about 500-600k. I think media reported it as $600k but how much of that is in the cap maybe $500k if any 3rd party deals.

Zero tackle has Ponga at 600k and that is just an estimate from publicised media stories.

I think Ponga’s salary is higher though. $3.6M over 5 years is the reported amount and the NRL no longer allows heavily back ended contracts (e.g. like they allowed with Farah and Marshall). He won’t be getting less than $700k a year...
