NSW Government just approved the demolition and rebuild of both Allianz and ANZ Stadiums at a cost of more than $2 billion.

Allianz gets bulldozed at the end of 2018 and ANZ at the end of 2019.

Sydney needs a larger stadium than 45k - more like Suncorp that's 10 mins from central - that's moorepark. Then we will have a stadium that's accessible easily to most and importantly as well to out of town visitors as well who stay in the east or the cbd. Then we have a stadium that attracts big events and the event will be enjoyed by all at the stadium.
More people live within 30 minutes of Homebush than Moore Park. The stupid bridge the State Government built was planned to land people at the new stadium. That is why it is currently in no mans land. It was never built to serve the current stadium.

As long as the tickets are reciprocal wherever they play the Roosters. It'll probably be at the SCG but then the Swans will clash.

Allianz will be rebuilt with a capacity of 45,000 people and ANZ with a capacity around 80,000.

This will allow the NRL to continue holding matches, including the grand final, at ANZ while Allianz is unavailable.
                  Surely thats a typo.

If it's not, this entire episode is a fkn disgrace. Spending all that cash on replacing a 45,000 capacity stadium with another 45,000 capacity stadium in it's place. It's so illogical, its almost as if Berijiklian and Co are just creating infrastructure jobs out of thin air for their mates.

There is no fkn point unless it's on par with Suncorp at about 55,000 capacity.

If it's going to be 45,000, just save the $$ a build a fkn retractable roof on the existing stadium.

The best club with the best supporters deserves the best stadium. I’m happy to sacrifice a year or 2 at the stadium for us to get even better facilities moving forward. Hopefully we stay away from Homebush during the re-build. I reckon we should split our games between Central Coast (2 games), Adelaide (1 game) and the remainder split amongst Leichhardt Oval and North Sydney Oval.

If they rebuild Allianz without a roof, they're nutz!

Knock them both down and start again...sounds good to me.
If only the Opera House had been built to its original design and cost.

Build proper stadiums...the seats more steeped so every fan gets a good view, and the seats not built one behind the other, but staggered so people can see past those fans wearing those stoopid high hats etc..
The fans should be able to look between the heads in front, not at the back of the heads.

Why are they replacing our home ground, nothing wrong with it. Same with Parra, it was a decent ground. Probably the 2 best grounds in Sydney.
As mentioned earlier, upgrade West, Manly and Penrith home grounds and save a fortune.
My bet is both Parra and Allianz will be built with government money, sold off at half the cost to a private mob and ticket prices will increase by 50%.

Original articles on SMH cited that there were problems with safety. Apparently fire regulations around exits.

Seems scetchy to me, but if the risks stack up the government would have little choice.

Fire, and 'suicide bomber' etc exits...gotta get the people out fast, very fast.

Best to just demolish them and build new.

What's needed are drop-off zones like at the airport...under cover.

Cars and buses arrive, go straight undercover so the passengers don't get wet.
The passengers then enter the stadium to their seats which are under cover.

Not like that new stand they built at the SCG ...driving rain would wet 'every' patron.
Who wants to sit in the sun all afternoon and cook? the designers need to put their thinking caps on...maybe do a fan survey first.

This should be a no brainer, but i really doubt it.

Dont forget where you are living: Australia - the land of over-regulation, knee-jerk reactions and safe thinking.

We ain't getting steep seats unfortunately.
