  • Hull sign Tansey for 2010

Hull have completed a third major signing for next season with the capture of Leeds utility player Jordan Tansey, who is currently playing on loan with Sydney Roosters.

The 22-year-old Tansey, one of only two Englishmen plying their trade in Australia's National Rugby League, has signed a two-year deal and will line up alongside current Roosters team-mate Craig Fitzgibbon and St Helens scrum-half Sean Long at the KC Stadium next year.

Hull are paying a £30,000 transfer fee to the Rhinos to release him from his current deal, which was due to run until 2011, while the Roosters have also agreed to cancel the second year of his contract with them.

Tansey said: "I have really enjoyed the experience of playing for the Roosters and I'm totally committed to giving them my best throughout the rest of this season.

"However, when Hull came in for me it was an opportunity I felt I couldn't turn down.

"I am excited by the signing of Fitzgibbon, who I know well from my time here, and obviously the recent signing of Sean Long is massive for the club and I can't wait to play with him.

"My chats with Richard (Agar) went really well and I loved the sound of what he wants to achieve, and I am desperate to play my part in that.

"Joining Hull also allows me to be closer to my friends and family again, which is very important to me, and I can't wait to run out in front of the Black and White fans at the KC."

Tansey, who has so far played eight times for the Roosters, made 52 appearances for Leeds and started at stand-off, loose forward, wing, full-back and hooker in their title-winning season in 2008.

If we're looking toward the future he isn't a big loss.

If Myles, Shackleton, Cherrington and Towers stay, I don't mind. But if we lose any of these blokes AND Tansey...I won't be a happy camper.

Tansey is no loss. Frees up money to re sign Myles and Shack

Tansey is a fill in for us right now. Once Maubs, Minichello and Williamson return from injury, he will have no place in the team. He can hardly crack the team right now, and that shouldn't be hard

Andy, he has played a couple of games for us. He played at fullback covering for an injured Minichiello, and he was tried at hooker last week.

Fullback seems to be his best position from what ive seen, he runs the ball back strongly and is always lurking in the middle of the field looking for an offload.

Unlike some fans here that rate red headed forwards that have done nothing for us for 5 years over this kid, I think Tansey has something to offer. he is still young but he has teh right moves and could become a good player in time. Id have resigned him for another season to see what he could produce, given we dont have centres or good wingers at the momnet, Id prioritise Tansey over back rowers that have done **** all for us in 5 years.

I'll add my two cents worth and say that I've been impressed with his enthusiasm and the times that he has followed the ball carrier in support looking for the offload and some rare second-phase play - he is the only one doing it.

Will he do well for Hull FC? Based solely on what I've seen of him at the Roosters and what little I know of ESL, I'd say there's a good chance of that happening.

One thing is certain, I don't know who to barrack for in the ESL now given that Morley plays for Warrington and Fitzy will play for Hull.

I wouldn't worry about this too much. If people are worried about a player of his calibre leaving then it's a sad reflection on how we are going at the moment.

I don't think that is the problem.

It is more the principle that we lose good, honest, hard-working players who provide value for money as well as being players who have made their NRL debut for us, yet we keep big-name imports that underperform on a regular basis.

                              That's all too true Mack.

Whilst the club is consistently offloading players who actually give a shyte about the colours they wear, claiming 'salary cap pressure', when an expensive overrated import comes onto the market there's magically money in the salary cap bank that doesn't appear to be on offer to other players.

Little wonder some lesser paid players get pissed off and take the first available opportunity out of the place.
