  • Pressure on Robbo and Cronk to deliver a Premiership -if Cronk signs

One has to say that if Cronks signs a premiership will be expected-nothing more and nothing less - if no premiership in 2018 -then what do the Roosters do? - chase Bellamy as coach and Cam Smith(both off contract in 2018) perhaps- Seems to be bordering on the absurd thinking one player will make all the difference when it's a 17 player game.

Be hard to say that any of the 17 in the PF played to their ability or had good games and of course the coach has to share the blame in this including his team selections and the lack of fast tracking development of highly lower graders to NRL standard.- Depth in 2018 will be an issue in a range of positions and one has to say the Chooks will need to have a good run in the injury department to make another challenge or this lack of depth will be found out as they say.

Certainly the pressure will be fully on Robbo and Cronk to deliver the premiership that Uncle Nick will demand despite it being a 17 player game- would not like to be in their shoes if this doesn't occur.

Sonny seemed to make all the difference in 13.

With Cronk at the helm next year plus the addition of Ted, the pressure will certainly be in Robbo. His roster will be the envy of most coaches. Only problem is the lack of depth in the forwards.

17 player game though and one has to say we had the best Roster too not only in 2013 but 2014/2015 too - the backline of Mini/Toops/Jenko/SKD/RTS is far better than the current one for instance- had more points in us and much better defence and mostly played for 80 minutes during those years unlike 2017 which is reflected in the for and against differential - 72 (2017) / 2013( 315) / 2014 (230)/2015 (291)
      Roosters 24 17 0 7 2 500 428 72 10 - 2 7-5 38- 2017
      Sydney Roosters (P) 24 18 0 6 2 640 325 +315 40- 2013

Even with Cronk and Teddy we're still trailing the Cowboys and Storm with the 3rd best roster.

So you're saying that if Robbo doesn't win the comp with the 3rd best roster that he'll be sacked?

So if Green doesn't win the comp with that obscene roster up in NQ he should be sacked, hung, drawn and quartered.

Cronk then is being signed for what purpose- to fund his retirement by playing two more seasons - Do you think Uncle Nick will be happy if Cronk signs for 2 years and there was no premiership though? - he will be expecting back to back ones in 2018/2019 as what would be the purpose of signing him and releasing Pearce if that what eventually happens.

The purpose is to improve the team and thus improve our chances of winning the Premiership.

But by no means does it guarantee us a comp in what is the toughest sporting competition in the world.

If we make the GF only for Lolo, Scott, Morgan and a certain Johnathan Thurston to play the game of their lives and win then I don't see it as a failure.

Yes signing Cronk makes us a better team. But it doesn't mean that anything other than a Premiership should be viewed as a failure.

There are so many variables at play in footy and so much has to go right in order to win a comp that it'd be foolish to dumb it down to a simple catchy slogan like "Premiership or bust".

2015 is a great example. We were steam rolling our way to a title only for 5 minutes of mayhem to rob us of our halfback and the world's form forward at the time in JWH. That robbed us of a Premiership imo. Proving that a lot needs to go right beyond simply having the best roster to win a comp; or in our case for 2018 one of the top 3 rosters.

It's not the toughest sporting comp in the world though by a long long long way so best not to make such ridiculous statements and internationally as you should know RL is not even considered a sport (pole dancing/foot golf is though)

                    http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-league/r...24-gz70n4.html

Football leagues in Europe are much much tougher as is the Major league Baseball in America(both American and National Leagues- 162 Game regular season then divisional and league play offs then the best out of 7 World series for the relevant league winners) - Houston Astros vs LA Dodgers - Dodgers winning game 4 -6-2 to tie the series - 2-2 -game 5 in Houston and games 6 and 7 in LA if required.

To make it in Major league baseball is a log haul as not many do - they have Rookie league/single A/Double A and Triple A- NFL is much tougher too to play and make it as NBL/Ice Hockey/hurling etc etc is not withstanding making it internationally in sports that are played in many many many countries than RL is - Cricket/Union for an example

Seems you are already making excuses for a no premiership in 2018 - I Hear now that Melbourne Storm will make Pearce an offer if he is released- be ironic if they win a comp with him as half in 2018 and we don't with Cronk at half - what will be the excuses then - oh the Storm won last year and Pearce made up their numbers perhaps.

Says the guy who started a thread after we lost the pf saying we should sign Cronk. Talk about a 180 degree about turn lol...
