Good point mate. Apart from our opening match against Souffs Symonds has been awful this year. Too many mistakes, not a high enough workload and not much impact.

In my view aiden Guerra is one of the only good things to emerge out of this horrible season. If we don't re-sign him it will be a very big mistake. He actually plays as though he realizes he has been given an opportunity and gives his all every time he takes the field. Honestly if we don't keep him I really hope he does well elsewhere and that the decision comes back to hurt us in a big way. He is a must.

Thus proving that the storm aren't stupid. The Roosters will be if they let him go.

I have a bad feeling he'll end up back at the Storm. They'll have some money left after losing Blair wouldn't they? As someone else said, it probably would have been better letting Symonds go to Parramatta as he's been woeful this year. Though Tom is a local junior and has been playing injured most of the year surely?

            OK,

So i did a bit of quick guesswork, and some addition, subtraction as such and I'm pretty sure we won't be able to afford to keep Guerra, whether we want to or not. With the re-signing of Symonds at the start of the year and the fact that we picked up Bosden and still have a raft of back rowers, which whether or you guys agree are most probably as good as Guerra, it seems his days with us are numbered. I also think his current vein of form is because he knows he is playing for a contract elsewhere.

Now I know you all are going to forecast the end of days because of this but do keep in mind what we still have...

            Aubs
            FPN
            Bosden
            Cordner
            Anasta
            Cherrington

and then also coming through will be Lowe who is killing it in the 20s atm, plus, I would think BJ will be in the back row within 2 years (once moga or blair come through)

This is the same as the Linnet thing... time to let it go

Guerra is superior to all of them

Honestly, if this stupid farkin club lets him go and keeps that fraud Anasta, that'll probably do me

The difference between Guerra and the rest of our backrowers?

              Guerra makes things happen

Yeah, but they've already signed up Symonds, Aubs, FPN and Anasta. The well is drying up, and like I said, he may just be playing well for a contract elsewhere. There were rumors at the start of the year he was part of the party boy attitude that they wanted to get rid of, the decision was made a while ago I'd say.

Apart from Cordner, I don't gain too much confidence with the others. Either injury prone, lazy, unproven or past his best. I'd keep Guerra ahead of atleast three of those.

So what do we make of Smith starting him every game for past 6-8 weeks?

Is he putting him in the shop window for other clubs or, is he telling the club and the player that he wants to keep him?

Hes Playing well and we don't really have anyone else apart from Symonds and I don't know whats going on there, hes just been disappointing this year. Conn, Aubs, Cordner and Cherro are all out injured and Arona misses to many easy tackles.

I rate aubs higher than him and I think Lowe will be a very similar player.

I have a question, how much would you be willing to pay for Guerra to stay? 150k?

                        Maybe if it was 1998

That won't go close to keeping him nowadays

Guerra is our best forward, and must be retained

Guerra hasn't been playing for a contract you fools! He's been playing to be in First grade.
Last year when he made his début he gave exactly what he is giving now; 100 and a million%. No doubt that he has worked hard to cement a spot in the team, but he hasn't done that to get another contract.

Good, honest footballers play because they want to play in the best comp, to the best of their ability. Footballers that are playing for money alone are clearly visible out on the field as they don't put in their all every week.

On a lighter note, you can only hope that Smith has been starting Aidan because he wants the club to see his value and wants him re-signed. We can only hope.

IMO Aubs and Guerra in the second row would be great, a double sided attack on both edges, running off the halves, both very good defenders, either could cover for Carneys poor reads in defence. Big minutes by both of we could have 2 big noppers and 2 ball playing back rowers in the bench, if the club loses someone of Aidens ability, they are farken kidding

it all comes down to team balance and management made a huge mistake re-signing Anasta/FPN it throws the balance of the pack out, Anasta doesn't have the work rate to be in the backrow and his so called attacking creativity is a luxury we can't afford especially with how poor Carney is in defence, as for FPN he has gone right off the boil since he got his new long term contract, he is now too small for the front row and doesn't have the workrate/stamina to be considered a lock.

we have plenty of wide running second rowers, what we lack is a tackling machine lock forward which is exactly what we let go in Myles, it wouldn't surprise me if we are in the market for another hooker and Friend becomes the longterm solution at lock.

we will know if Guerra signs elsewhere because Smith will immediately drop him from first grade.

                                11-aubs 181 96kg
                                12-guerra 190cm 105kg
                                13-JWH 192cm 106kg

JWH and guerra would add some much needed size and go forward in the backrow... we all know how good aubs and guerra can attack
                                all 3 good defenders
