Spam epidemic

Could I suggest to the moderators that, for the next few weeks, you close the forum to new members? I don't know what the longer term solution is, but things seem to be getting worse.

Only allow new users to post replies to threads, starting with only once every 12 hours, only after they have posted 5-10 replies can they create their own threads. Based on those replies you can tell who is BS spammers.

I agree with everyone else. All the recent spam crap is getting ridiculous and very annoying!

Maybe they are trying to shut the Chookpen down. It's very annoying whatever the reason and I'd hate to be a mod trying to fix the problem.

I heard it is Pearcey, and yes he is trying to get the site closed down - he is sick of all the crap he cops on here. Apparently Skidsy showed him how to do it.

Just close the forum down to new members for a period as it worked before for a while, either that or as another poster, don't allow new members to create threads until they have accumulated a certain number of posts replying to other threads.

I am no IT expert but I will pm the mods my other idea (which may or may not be feasible) I dont want the spambots or what is behind them to see the other solution.

all the ideas thrown up sound like good ones - but until they can be implemented cant the Mods get on and delete all these BS threads? That would be a nice place to start. I know they will come back in another form but a daily clean up would be nice until a more thorough solution is put in place.
