  • The Stadium Reno vs Rebuild

What is everyone elses thoughts / preferences on this?

it looks like the government now is favouring a complete knock down & rebuild which will take 2-3 years and mean we play at SCG during that time.

what are your thoughts on this and what is our preferred situation if given a choice of a reno vs a rebuild (which will take longer)

I love the SFS just the way it is. The upgrade tho, if it includes a roof would be awesome.

Sure but what about the issue of playing at SCG for 3 years for the rebuild vs 1 year for the reno

SCG is good for nostalgia and sentimentality. The reality though is that it is a terrible ground for NRL. The action is too far away and as far as television broadcasting goes it is a shitshow yo. Those shadows in the afternoons make it more or less impossible to see jackshit.

I was just thinking whilst sitting in the Chookpen area for the game against the Tigers what a brilliant stadium to watch rugby league.

I've seen nothing like those huge screens at either end of the ground...they are the jewel in the crown.

What a tragedy they want to mess with this.

Displacement and living the nomadic life is perilous to teams.

We should buy Redfern Oval, redevelop it and steal Souffs territory.

Agreed JFC. Those screens are the envy of sporting venues around the world. Imagine the cost of putting them in only to be wasted after a couple of years. Im sure if they rebuild or reno they will keep them however.

A team without a secure, regular HOME ground is team with nothing to defend. Watch memberships drop during either a reno or rebuild.

                      Reno.
Has to be if common sense comes into it.

Broke my heart when the old sports ground was demolished , so I'm no fan of plastic stadium.
                      But knocking it down????????????
I remember a nsw politician stating the ground was old and/or obsolete................
                      1988 isn't that long ago.

                      3 points for a good " reno ".

                      1- Weather protection.

                      2- Toilet and bar facilities.

3- (most important of all) Replacing 2/3rds of the plastic bucket seats with red and white ones, and making the rest a darker shade of blue.

I'm being pretty reasonable I reckon.
My perfect football "stadium" would still include a hill.

Quicker access to food and drink, and more protection from the rain, I have never had an issue with the toilets?? How often do people need to use the toilets that it becomes an issue in a two hour game of footy?

                          Odd point to pick on?
                          I'll endeavour to answer .

Long time since I attended a game, but I do recall a very long queue at the stadium in the past.
And people are paying a lot to go. (pardon the pun)
Some of us develope prostate problems as we travel through life as well.
And a beer or three used to be mandatory at the footy.

Difficult question to answer , to be honest.
Did you like the idea of Rooster coloured seats?
                          Perhaps in a V pattern?

Thats been tossed up in articles ive read over the past year and again on saturday. The agreement we have with the moore park complex would probably see us have to play out of their neighbouring complex at scg..
