  • Matt King

Always enjoy listening to Matt King speak, and this week's team announcement was no exception. Check it out. He has a genuine enthusiasm about him. Retired from footy at 22 to do some odd jobs and returned to win comps and play for his country. 'I haven't had the rise of a normal first-grader so I really appreciate where I am at the moment and it's something I don't take for granted.' It shows - and is infectious.

I wouldn't swap our three assistant coaches, or our head coach, for anyone.

I met him when I went to watch a Roosters v Storm game down in Melbourne. He sat next to us to watch some of a under 18's game. He was so down to earth. This was about 14 years ago, Billy Slater was around as well and all the Storm fans were sucking up to Slater and didn't even acknowledge Matt.
Slater got smashed early and was quiet for the rest of the game, King had a blinder.
Roosters won and I got to meet Moooorly,
    Great day.

He's lucky he didn't lose his arm after that unresolved fracture screw up.
      SUPER DRAGON!

Genuine guy, and genuinely appreciates what league has done for his life, has a smile ear to ear. Top bloke.

Had the best hairdo in the game...

He also aimed up in Rep games.

A genuinely nice and smart fella.

So happy he is with us now.

Apparently he couldn't wait to leave Souffs.

Let's hope he's maintained contact with Crichton and convinces him to come over!

Zac, so glad you wrote this. First time I've impartially listened to him post footy. Clearly the vermin stench did not permeate this obviously classy guy.

infectious character. The sort you need around sports teams.

thought of posting this exact same thread and then dimentia kicked in

Great post Zac. Spot on. Wish there were more people in the world like him. He did miss a tackle he should have made on the weekend though! Got a mention in the Fox commentary. P.S. He looks fit enough to still be playing too.
