  • Injury Updates - Toops and SST

The Roosters were on the road in Round 22 for a Sunday afternoon clash with a desperate Manly Sea Eagles outfit as they looked to improve on their impressive run leading into the post-season.

It was a tough day at Lottoland for the Roosters and it was made even tougher by a couple of players being forced from the field with injuries.

Siosiua Taukeiaho was taken from the field after just 14 minutes of play when he sustained what was feared to be a compound fracture of the finger.

After further examination from the Roosters medical staff it is confirmed that the injury is not as bad as originally thought and that Taukeiaho's finger was just dislocated.

He will be available for selection this weekend against the Melbourne Storm.

Daniel Tupou was forced from the field in the 65th minute of the game after sustaining a groin injury.

After receiving scans this afternoon, it is confirmed that it is a right groin tear that will require Tupou to undergo an intensive rehab program.

It is expected that he will be unavailable for up to six weeks while he recovers.

Could be better for Tupou, could be worse.

Great news for SST, he was definitely missed yesterday.

      Great news on SST.

But absolutely terrible on Toops who has been immense for us this year. Arguably our best.

Wingers are more important than they've ever been so he's a huge loss.

Great news on SST; bad news on Toops. Two of our best.
Still - 'up to six weeks' might mean that he is available week one of the finals. If we make top four, then so long as he comes back week 2 it's not catastrophic.
But terrific news on SST. Him and Cords coming back is huge for us.

Toups is a massive loss, has turned into such a beast on kick returns, takes those hard hitups off the goal line, saw what happened to Manu when he tried it yesterday.

          fantastic news on SST.

we won't beat the Storm on Saturday but much more optimistic about our last 3 games now.

wonder how far Gordon is away from returning, hopefully Robbo gives an update tonight on NRL 360

Given I thought we'd lost both for the season this is fantastic news. Now we've just got to get Toops into rehab on that groin. Hopefully he can come back sooner than 6 weeks. He had a groin strain earlier in the year as well so obviously this is a problem area for him.

Who would you say is a more important loss if both were out for 6 weeks...toups or sst?

No brainer for me...I rate Toups best winger in the game at the minute.

Can Maubs play on the left? I was hoping they would just shuffle Mitchell out one player and slide Maubs over but they put Manu across on the left and moved Maubs to right centre. Or what about Fergo on the left wing? Manu slides to the right wing and Maubs plays centres inside him?

Not sure how we're gonna score points without Toops. Latrell to Toops is about our only attacking play at the moment

As good as Toops is going - and he's been awesome - we saw the value of SST vs the Cowboys.

He's our best middle forward and a world class forward will always trump a world class winger in terms of importance. Even though a great winger who gets your sets off to a good start is crucial.

Don't get me wrong Toops is a huge loss. But if SST was out for the year then we were toast. The man is a beast.

A mixed bag. Great news for sst, bad for toups.

Will need sst against the storm. He is our cut-priced version of Jason Tamalolo. Absolute beast.

There are some good ones out there though, cotric, rapana, radradra, vunivalu, feldt, mansour just to name a few. Would be nice to swap fergo for one of them.

Abdolutely shattered about Toups Groin tear which will need extensive rehab up to six weeks sounds very optimistic to me I am not expecting too see him again this season His kick returns and hit ups out of our half will be sorely missed
