  • Homage to Robbo

At the beginning of last year I responded to a thread saying that I did not think Latrell was not ready for first grade. Robbo played him and he gained valuable experience through a tough year for the Chooks.

This year Latrell started well and started to think he was a one man team, again this is due to a lack of maturity that was my concern last year. Robbo made a tough decision to drop him to Wyong, yes we struggled during that period and I remember some people going off that he should never have been dropped, how attack was now atrocious.

Now I think this was a great move by our coach, Mitchell needed a wake up, you can score tries all day but his lazy attitude in defence was not acceptable and he needed a wake up!

What a big call it was at the time.

Great game by Mitchel today but I have to say how good was Ryan Matterson's game today, he is an enormous talent. He is one of my favourite players. He excites me much like RTS did when he started with us.

Also Pearce, JWH, and even the much maligned Adian has a good game today.

It was good just to sit back and watch a win without stressing. I know we dropped I lot of ball but this was just one of those games.

I have high hopes for this year, even more so than next year as I feel we will have to lose some depth players because of the Tedesco signing.

Anyway I had a few beers and just wanted to write some stuff.

    Go the Chooks

    Good post.

Latrell has been handled perfectly by Robbo. He needed a kick up the ass and has come out of it a better player.

As for Matterson, he is simply outstanding. We have a real arsenal of forwards which is leading our charge.

He has the potential to be a complete forward. Big, strong, quick, footwork, and excellent ball skills.

Terrible miss by Matterson for their first try.

It was and I just came back to mention that lol

He's still young and has plenty of improvement in him.

            Yes it was.
However he has been outstanding all year so will give him the benefit of the doubt over that one

Lattrell would still be trotting out for Wyong if SKD hadn't of been busted with a bag of rack at Ivy.

No master plan there by Robbo. Just a strange twist of events that has worked out well for all except SKD.

Bullshit, Lattrell was back well before the SKD F-up. Give credit where it is due!

Anyway he needed a kick up the but.

No, he wasn't. Was put back in firsts as a direct result of SkD's suspension

I went to school with a lot of players that were awesome, Terry Hill was in my class, Trindell was the year below and Jarred Hayne's dad Manoa Thompson was our school captain. We also had many players that could have gone a long way but attitude has so much to do with it.

Lattrell has been handled very well and is an awesome player with unbelievable potential.

Weren't you the one that was going on that there was some hidden agenda that Mitchell was going to walk and the world was coming to an end?

He was going to come back eventually around the SOO to replace Fergo. At the end of the day, no dramas, just Robbo showing Mitchell how it is. It's worked.

Mitchell is going well now, but to me he seems like he is carrying few extra kilo's of weight, which I think is impacting on his pace, I hope our sprint coaches can get that under control in the off season, and help him pick up abit more pace, if he can do that, the world is his oyster.

I reckon Matterson was awesome apart from a bad missed tackle.

Will be a great edge forward for years to come.

I'm a Robbo fan. There's no blank cheque in rugby league, and he must live and die by results, but I have faith that he can steer us to a few more premierships yet.

If Robbo moved on, Bellamy and Bennett would be my two picks but, yeah, so long as Robbo wants the job, I prefer him to them.
