I went to the Broncos verses Canberra semi that year and although Broncos won it pretty well, geez the quality of both teams was incredible.
mate youre right I think stuart got injured in the last game of the season which took the stuffing out of canbrra they won it a year or 2 later but they would have won that year for sure I remember norths had a very strong team back then not sure what year they almost made the grand final maybe it was a bit later those were the good old days rugby league sure isn't what it used to be

We won our first 5 games in 92 and we still missed the semis.

Yeah due to injuries we never got to see those two great Brisbane and Canberra teams clash in the GF

Broke his ankle in the last 15 mins in a game against Parra. Canberra were smashing them at the time and from memory, I'm pretty sure Stuart won the Dally M in a canter. The Raiders then bounced out of the semis in straight sets without him but went on to beat Canterbury the following year in Mal's last NRL game

Salvo is my all time, favourite Rooster.

He was a shining light in a very dark period for the Chooks.

Plus he used to drink at the Dunbar hotel in Paddington, which was my local at the time, and he was always happy to have a chat.

Kurt Sherlock ended our run by bombing a try against the Bulldogs a la Tetevano.

Round 11 that year we were on top of the ladder, 4 rounds later we were out of the 5 and just kept losing. Won a few in a row near the end but our old nemesis Canterbury beat us in the penultimate round destroying any chance we had of sneaking into the 5. We did manager to finish the year with a 56-16 smashing of Souths though

Wouldve preferred cannberra to win in 93 rather then the broncs, as i recall gary freeman was fantastic for us overall though our team werent real strong till the gould years from 95

Yep that's when Salvo had the brain snap and head butted the Penrith player even though we in possession of the ball just after Jeff Orford scored one of the tries of the year, then a game after that we lost
Gary freeman for 4-5 weeks to the Kiwi side so we were out 2 of our best players for a good portion of that losing streak

I think Freeman got a perfect 10 in Rugby League week after that game. He and Seidenkamp tore Souffs to shreds.

Cords may be up there one day with the likes of our legends McGahan and Salvo.
