Hannant was never going to stay, it was all about the money for him. I still remember his excuses:

Leaving the Roosters: "oh i'm homesick, i want to go back to QLD" - Signs with Broncos
Leaving Broncos: "i Wanted to take an opportunity in Sydney" - Signs with Dogs
Leaving Dogs: "i'm homesick, i want to go back to QLD" - Signs back with Broncos

It was all about the $ for hannant.

      • I am always surprised Hannant gets as much recognition as he does, I don't rate him that highly.
Have seen him do some good things but bad as well. He also can have a distruptive influence (see bulldogs) as its all about him and his money,

Ryles and Myles unsurprisingly the only ones near 100 metres. Smithy needs to find a way to get 10-15 more minutes out of Masoe, stick him in the backrow who cares we need some go forward. Tasi back this week?
Mose is a liability in defence. Very lazy defender.

If you don't believe that Matt Elliot didn't have a hand in yesterday's win, then you're not paying attention.

What impact do you think he had on our performance?

Throw in the fact that Conn is already gone and there is no guarantee that Ryles will be with the club next year (age, form, motivation) and there is a lot of work that someone else needs to pick up.

We have planty of young backrowers at our club, but not too many workhorses that will do the tough stuff up the middle.
Couldn't agree more, Ryles is a must. Kennedy really stepped up this year and Tasi was looking the goods but we really lack any genuine metres eaters in the backrow. Anasta really needs to just man up and play lock, he's got a great build and he can pick and choose his runs from there whilst still ball playing. In fact I think his ball playing options improve ten fold when he can attack from lock than from the second row.

I noticed this comment at the end of the story..............fancy a bunnies fan giving our club tips on coaching

Rabbit Fan of Sydney says… July 10, 2011 at 11:44 AM

Who would want to coach the current crop at the Roosters? The fans deserve better efforts then what is being shown this season. The players just don't have the ticker. They are playing a forward short every time Anasta takes the field in a forwards jersey. Shift Pearce to Hooker, have Friend come off the bench as an impact player, move Anasta back to 5/8 and have Carney play his best position of half back. There may be a mini revival over East but not enough to make the finals this year.

                      • I know where I'd rather Carney receiving the ball at first receiver where he has to organise the team or second receiver where he has more room to run. Even Tommy Raudonikis could figure that one out it's no riddle.

Just watching the replay now, that in and away from Pearce to set up Carney's first try was all class.

                        • Why didn't we play like that in the 2003 grand final? :P

On the money. Pearce is a great leader and a fantastic organizer. He keeps Carney composed, he can't take any more pressure, he just over thinks things.

100% spot on, after his first 5 minutes he becomes a slug and doesn't tackle. He needs to grow some heart and be a bit more committed or piss off back to Newtown. He should run as hard as he can but he doesn't do that much either. At least Fui Fui Moi Moi has a fair dinkum go, could teach Masoe a few things. I woudl much prefer a front row rotation of Ryles, Kennedy, Tasi and JWH and leave this guy out all together.
