Soward plays behind a dominant pack, that always gets the rub of the green. The reigning premiers. Does his form warrant the title of brilliant? No way. He is far from brilliant, and comparing the two is the real unintelligent thing.

"Soward is better than Pearce" - you cant even compare the two. If Soward was at Easts this year, he would have been terrible. Ive alwasy said without a dominant pack, Andrew Johns wouldn't have been "as good".

Remember why Soward was picked for Origin. He was the last option. Another Finch fill in. Even Finch had one dominant Origin game. It means jack.

Todd Carney threw away his opportunity to dominate for a decade. The question you should be asking is will Soward dominate for a decade like the true greats?

I am willing to go through every game with you this year, and we'll analyse every game, and I'll give you odds of 10 to 1 if you don't find analysis close to the mark. How many games did we dominate in the 1st half this year, but without having enough points on the board, only for the opposition to come back and get us in the 2nd half.

I think Easts fans may think Pearce will be great cos he plays at our club, although I know some who support other teams who love his style of play. I agree with Rusty, hes never gonna be a great player, just a solid 1st grader, a clubman like Horrie was.

This team in the offseason trained around carney and pearce, who both were our strong points last season. Our plays were based around those two.

Suddenly one gets injured and farks up big time and the whole pressure is put on Pearce.

Pearce is the organiser in the squad, not the creative one, thats carney role.

I think OMR is looking at it from a simple view this season when its well known our structure in attack has changed. When do we see any decoy runners or 2nd phrase plays this season??

Pearce played very well in the city side and in origin played 2 out of three good games, yet all of a sudden Soward is the better one.

What makes soward position safe for the blues next yr?

Pearce can organise if things are going well, however ask him to lead a team to victory under tough circumstances and he will found wanting.

I never got into the debate of who is better, Soward or Pearce, however I did make it clear that I was a fan of Soward, and if I am coaching a team and given a choice , I would choose someone like Soward ahead of Pearce, because that is the style of play I encourage.

Don't you need both Soward and Pearce though? I'm not debating Pearce's merits. I agree that he is a quality NRL player, but he's not the messiah. However, Soward couldn't organise a shag in a brothel, so they complement each other perfectly......pity Anderson didn't want him and we released him to the Dragons!
