Rubbish. Friend has been really good this year - far better than what he dished up last year.

His service has been first class and his defence goes without saying. He's even managed a few decent kicks as well.
Maybe but those other 3 King Salvo mentioned are ahead of him.

McCulloch is but i dont think Granville is. He is more dynamic than Friend but i dont rate his passing game and he doesnt have Friend's motor which would be crucial in origin.

Also he is behind Friend right now as he is sitting on the sidelines injured..

The only one that stood up last year in more games than anyone was SKD, and I don't mean the 26 games (or 24 coz of the byes). Friend like everyone else was shit...There was a virus in the team and everyone caught it. SKD was more resistant to it. Friend now has another leader to share the burden in Cords. Friend still has his faults, he will never be a Smith, like Pearce will never be a DCE(and I'm not saying JT cause that's another solar system). However no one can deny the effort 'nugget' (that's his nick?) puts in, in defence every week and no replacement will match that now. Carter may have a good game or two but he's still untested in the consistency dept. Friend, like Pearce, HAS to get more time kicking the ball at training. I often wonder what importance Robbo places on the kicking aspect of the game because we have been frustrated by our kicking efforts for many years.

        • As I said Friendly(His nick name I understand) has to improve his running and kicking game as the days of tackling machines is over need to have other bows to his game - sure he kicked a 40 - 20 against the Dogs- easiest position to kick is from dummy half- need to look at kicking deep and to open field early too when wingers and fullbacks are up close to the defence in early tackle counts and have he chase kickers too to do their bit- when our forwards were dominating in attack Friendly's job was easy now when they are not dominating he needs a running and kicking game to move the team forward- Cannot rely solely on Pearce for the kick as teams are awake to this and are targeting him not only kicks but generally in attack - Keary needs to step up too- Peace most often kicks straight to the fullback and or wingers- need to find open ground and make them fetch the ball and have the kick chaser in numbers to capitalise on this - tackle quickly off the tackled player play the ball as it can take 3 to 4 tackles for their runners to get back on side to run the ball up - very poor 5th tackle options(hail Mary kick or Toops) and Pearce as we know has the lowest repeat set average of any half back- I hope as Joey Johns said there is a lot of improvement in the Roosters- starting to ask when will this be shown- almost 1/3 through the season. Time to show improvement is next game and rest of season
