Who was it tonight?

A wins a win but my goodness we were crap tonight. I understand it was a defensive contest but the amount of mistakes and points through penalties we threw at the Riff was just ugly.

I am struggling to pin point a stand out for us as just about everyone either played dropsies, couldn't kick, couldn't communicate or gave away penalties in poor field position.

It wasn't perfect but I think it would be our halves again and maybe Toups.

Let me add also that I thought the way the ref allowed slow play the balls all night for both sides really killed the game. Of course I am a one eyed Rooster but I honestly believe the Riff were allowed to lay on the tackled player longer than us. We weren't penalised much for it but the Riff should have been on a number of occasions.

Yep, you could see our guys making a conscious effort to get off quicker in the last 20.

Pearce was our best, long kicking game was brilliant & set up our first 2 tries. He was the difference in a game where both sides struggled to create points on a wet track.

Honourable mentions to;
- Cordner who was a great release for yardage on the left edge all night
- Toops who was reliable under the high ball, saved a try, set up a try & gave us good yards coming out of our own end... only the one stupid offload
- Gordon was reliable apart from that knock on that almost resulted in a try, chimed in nicely on backline movements and scored the crucial trial with some nice soccer skills
- Aubusson who wasn't seen much but if you go back and watch every tackle he made tonight he was so crucial and such a beast.
- And a shout out to Tetevano & Matterson who continue to impress, both made 100m+ off the bench.

Shinning light was our attitude though, we weren't that good with the ball tonight but we really dug in and only conceded the one try. Reminded me of 2013 where we just didn't look like breaking in defence and scrambled right up until the last second.

You are kidding. Some games you just have to get in the grind for 80 minutes. And to be honest it's something we have not been good at in the past. We wanna play pretty footy too early.
Calling the team crap after that great win is ridiculous. That's a game we would have lost in past years. I thought the effort was sensational. No to mention 3 trys to 1.

Yep. You said we were crap. That's inaccurate right there. Winning doesn't have to be pretty. It was a defensive slugfest and both teams made errors.
But that doesn't make it crap. Both coaches in the presser are raving about the forwards and the effort by both teams.
Like I said, we would have lost that game in years past.
