  • Friggin Storm

It's wk 3 and the Storm play and defend that well against the Broncs.

If it wasn't for origin I'm sure they'd beat that 'undefeated run' record. They probably will with origin.

So friggin tough and disciplined. How do you beat em ????????

How good is Smith? 51 tackles and the sideline conversion with 2 mins left. It's only wk 3.

I thought it was an average game with a lot of mistakes. Referee's kept Storm ticking along with all the penalties. They had enough ball to win that game by 20 so I wouldn't be getting carried away with them yet.

          Gee can't agree.

They had a ridiculous amount of chances and Brisbanes defence was incredible.

Better team lost...brilliant pass by Boyd for Kahus try in the first half and the numnuts call it forward...my pet hate

Great return game by j Bromwich and Slater though ...after a year out...amazing player.

I'm more scared of Brisbane after that game..

If we can defend like Brisbane did tonight come the finals then we'll be very hard to beat.

Our defence is so far below those two teams, its not funny, how come we cant find the wingers the quality of the storm, they are amazing players.

That's true, passed looked ok and should've been a Bonco try. But having said that, thought Chambers try was also fair ...I reckon bunker ref got that totally wrong !

Hawkeye I was ok with the Chambers no try as he grounds it short then "loses control" by the time it hits the chalk and has left his hand. Not sure what the letter of the law says but "spirit of game" JFC rules said no.

We'll be top 8, maybe not top 4. I'm just glad we've won our first two. We don't need to start the season with big grandstand games like the Storm, Brisbane and Cowboys.

I think our defence is comparatively poor (particularly around the edges, and all the darn penalties in the centre). We will need to improve our defence and also make sure our attack is spot on. I've been REALLY happy with our attack by the way! 6 tries and 5 tries... that's ~30 points a game and when you're scoring that many points, you can win games! I dunno if the 3 teams I mentioned about have the same quality in the halves and backs. If we can pile on the points early, grind them in the forwards (where we have talent and size... eff me Tetevano, hit Smith or Thurston [not your mrs] like you hit Hoppa and Reynolds and I'll give you a medal!!!) and I think we'll be competitive.

I can't think of a better backline than ours, and that's saying something when we played against Hayne, Hurrell, Zillman and Don in round 1! Add Joey Manu to the mix plus Matterson and Watson (giving us playmakers all over the park) and we can create tries from anywhere.

                      Lol Zillman and Don.

I think it's important to note that the teams that look the most polished in the early rounds haven't recently been their at the pointy end of the season.

Remember when people said Souffs could go through 2015 undefeated after a blazing start? Loool And we also belted the Cowboys in rnd 1 that year. The Broncos also got beat by 40 by Souffs in rnd 1. By the end of the season there was a complete reversal.

And in 2016 people were saying that the Cowboys and Bongos are so far ahead of the rest its not funny after an early golden point game at Suncorp - that it'd be a repeat GF. How did that pan out? Neither in the GF.

Yes we've started with back to back wins but gee we have so much to work on and that actually gives me confidence. We are so far behind what we saw last night in defence.

But let's review the situation in 20 weeks. In 2010 we were all about attack but then built some defensive resolve by seasons end. And with a much better roster in 2017 I'm confident we can follow a similar trajectory.

I agree that the best team lost, Brisbane's defense was very very good. But I hate them anyway
They did make too many mistakes, but I think that the refs did Brisebane several favours. Twice Thaiday should have been binned.

                          Long season dudes.

Canberra for.example are usually slow starters in the seasons they make the finals.

I think the Storm were well off their best and still won. I fear them more than Brisbane as they have a lot more improvement in them than the Broncos.

We will do ok. Its too early to tell who will be there at the end but based on recent seasons the Storm like always will be hard to beat especially if their spine stays fit and Munster and Slater get into sync with Smith and Cronk.

If we ever got 12 penalties like the storm got last night, no team would get close to us. Gee the Storm get a good rin with the refs. Brisbane were pulled up for a knock on last night and the ball went 2 metres backwards!!!

Yep all fair points. But what I was getting at is that Melbourne were so dominant. Their defence was awesome also. Brisbane were great in defence BUT Melbourne owned field position and the game.
