Geeze Robbo doesn't mind singling out or being tough on players that were our best this week and last. Had a good crack at Keary's second half - the loose balls and the inside shoulder missed tackle.

Last week it was Latrell who had a great game but still has a long way to go, as "he's there to score trys" said robbo.

Maybe he should name the players that really did make some terrible plays, dropped balls, etc, etc.

I've hated that last year. He attacks players personally. Most coaches don't do that. It's 'behind closed doors stuff'. No need to be so friggin specific. "Yeah he mad a few errors", would have done just fine.

I'm surprised Friend didn't join in.

What do you guys think ????

Should just call out Guerra for those crucial knock ons and missed tackles, wouldn't mind that.

I think he spoke honestly and I don't think that either player mentioned would have an issue with what Robbo said.

I haven't seen it yet, but if what you say is close to the truth I would be very disappointed. Keary is trying his butt off to impress ion a new team environment, and has done more in two games than Guerra has in all of last year. I do not like taking potshots at individual players, but surely any half decent footy fan can see Guerra's form has been pathetic, and Robinson needs to give him a wake up and send him to Wyong, and bring ZT and Carter into the squad. With SST coming back soon, and Liu back in that pack, all I can say ( with my best Ric Flair impersonation) WOOOOOOOOOOOOO

By the time SST gets back, I will be disgusted if Guerra is still in the team. Still a bit confused on what he brings? Maybe team chemistry and motivation (even though he has none himself). But I have a feeling that some one who's being playing well and doesn't deserve to be dropped will miss out.

It's nothing he wouldn't have said in private one on one.

I think the players respect Robbo for his honesty and up front nature.

And in fairness he used the old compliment sandwich: stated he had a good first half, then pointed out the couple of errors, then finished by saying that he's playing some really good footy.

Yeh I think you are trying to find something that isn't there.

He also said both players played brilliant but just had a couple of things to fix up.

It's definitely something we haven't seen from Robbo before and I'm not sure if it's because he wants to challenge them publicly, wants to keep a lid on the hype each player is receiving or he's just becoming a little more open but as others have said the players respect Robbo.

As a fan it's a nice change from the usual crap that you get in press conferences. Although I have always found Robbo to be one of the stronger speakers in the game.

IMO Guerra has played pretty well the past two weeks. I think he looks fit and interested.

Regarding Keary the coach was spot on. He is going great but there are plenty of things to work on.

I heard him go on about the missed right shoulder tackle. If it's the one where Graham put the young kid through under the post then from what I saw it wasn't so much about not using his shoulder. He didn't use anything. He was caught in two minds thinking Graham was going to cut the kid out. You could see Keary was moving out to the left and by the time he realised Graham threw the short ball it was too late. From what I saw he didn't even lay a hand on him.

I think you will get your wish soon. Especially when SST returns. There is so much depth now.

Guerra tried really hard last night. Put a lot of pressure on their kickers. Came up with those two dropped balls but to be honest I don't think Jake should have passed him that second one. Jake CAN throw a hospital pass. And have you all noticed that in both games this year he has not hit the line and then turned and crab walked backwards like he did all last year.
No doubt they have worked really hard on that bad habit he had.

But I'm the same. I think there are much better options now and when at full strength I don't see how he makes the team.

Yep all good comments, BUT SERIOUSLY, calling out a specific player, our best by far on the night, for a specific mistake, is just POOR FORM.
You would never see Bennett openly bag one of his players. Most of the coaches wouldn't. Especially the best on field.

Robbo's job is to 'centre' his players and privately he would have given Keary a heads-up before the press confrence.

part of his job is managing Keary's ego given that most of the press is already hailing him as Buy of the Year.

If the players are buying into the culture Robbo is trying to establish, I don't believe for one minute that any of them would be offended by being called out...they are all professionals.

Who cares what other coaches would do?! Why should that matter in any way. Robbo knows the relationship he has with his players and probably has a pretty good idea of how they would respond to public constructive criticism. The missed inside shoulder tackle he was referring to was pretty crucial in the context of the game. And he's right, if we're going to have defence like that then we won't challenge this year.

And just quietly I didn't hear old man Bennett speak up when Corey Parker ripped into Mitchell Dodds in that presser a few years back after they lost to us due to do a bad defensive read by Dodds.

Don't have any issue at all with what Robbo said in the presser - Luke Keary, while he did have a great game, did make 2 crucial mistakes that could have cost us the game, and Robbo simply pointed that out. Since when was being honest a problem as a coach? I've no doubt he would have spoken to Luke prior to the presser about the good and the bad.

I would prefer Robbo tells it as he sees it - which is what he's done this season. Hope he continues to do so.

Well said. I think as supporters we really need to appreciate the quality person that we have in our coach. He is a very intelligent man and I think that most things he does are well thought out and he always has the bigger picture in mind.
