Why would you do it when you have a Latrell Mitchell with all his extra size and power and who already has the year of first grade experience in the position.
Slater, Mini, RTS, Churchill.
I dont think FB's contest the ball much because the bomb has gone out of the game, its mostly the wingers who have to contest the ball from cross field kicks.

The best sides are getting points in attack out of their fullbacks and yardage out of their wingers/centres.FVCK CANCER

He's lightning quick with great footwork and he can also ballplay. This makes him a duel threat in attack which is what you want in a modern day fullback.
Watson also has a tremendous work ethic so he'd relish the challenge.
He's a similar build to Ben Barba and possesses many of his attributes on the field, and none of them off the field.
Assuming Mitchell stays at left centre, then I'd be happy to see Watson given a crack. He's obviously a winner and he's never failed at any challenge yet so I'd back him to succeed in this one too.

Anyway as I've said before I'm sure Watson could probably make a good fullback but why would you when you already have a bigger stronger more experienced one in Mitchell.

First off, he doesn't have all the attributes to be a modern day fullback because, as most of us know, you also need defensive positioning and tactical awareness to be successful at the back. These were two areas in particular that Roger struggled with in his initial transition to fullback during the 2014 season and what made Mini so invaluable. Does Watson have these attributes? No one can say for sure, seeing as we've never seen him play fullback; but I highly doubt it.
Secondly, his ball playing leaves a lot to be desired. Yes he is a half and he certainly isn't afraid to run the ball, but his passing game is yet to develop (which isn't a bad thing at this stage of his career), and his ball playing would be about on par with Josh Dugan. I look at good ball playing fullbacks and see RTS, Tedesco, Boyd; all of which spent plenty of time at fullback before such a skill set developed.
And finally to say he would relish the challenge and succeed simply because he has a good work ethic and has never failed a challenge before (according to you lol) is absolute rubbish. You seriously talk absolute shit. But then again that is the norm from you.

Interesting to see that Jack Bird is playing fullback against the Raiders tomorrow night. A lot of speculation that we are chasing him hard. I think he could make a decent fist of it, but I suspect he won't get too many opportunities to shine tomorrow.
