  • Unsigned players list??

Are these details right? I thought Toops re-signed late last year but I must be wrong. Plus surely we'd want to re-sign SKD & Ferguson soon.
Paki Afu, Paul Carter, Mitch Cornish, Kane Evans, Blake Ferguson, Michael Gordon, Aidan Guerra, Shaun Kenny-Dowall, Brenden Santi, Chris Smith, Zane Tetevano, Johnny Tuivasa-Sheck, Daniel Tupou

That list does indeed look correct.

Toops is off contract so he'll probably have an awesome season.

Really wouldn't bother me if none of them stayed. Fergo and carter if they have a good year should be priorities.

SKD should not be a priority. Let's see how he goes the first 10-12 weeks. We should be looking at the succession plan for him now and hopefully have a replacement ready next season.

That's pretty much it, I would be happy if we signed one or 2 others but only if they show really good form.

Manu? Although both our wingers should score plenty of four pointers this year

I would like to support and stick with what we have now. They have served the club well and I'm sure they are still capable.

              Except Guerra.

You can never stick with the same players, year in and year out. It breeds complacency and mediocre results. Look in all sports, the best teams will churn players every year to keep their rosters fresh and hungry. There are quite a few players in our side, Guerra the most notable who have really deteriorated over the past couple years and a refresh in certain positions is definitely required.

Agreed Cocka but change for no reason isn't going to take anyone anywhere. Build on what we have as a certain amount of faith in what we have and showing a certain degree of loyalty could be just as valuable. How many players have we let go to only be stars elsewhere? It's s business I know and there are times where some changes are needed but I don't really think this is it.

Agree mate, I think apart from Guerra and one or 2 others, we have the players that can again be challenging for a premiership.

Im hoping we build Manu into the centres ...perhaps from Lattrell moving back to his best position in 2018...I think Manu has a skillset beyond just a flanker.

A tad sad thatPaki Afu was released.
Don't blame the club for this , ala Maloney...........................some just don't appreciate stuff till it's too late.

I reckon you are right about Latrell. When he's goes back there in 18, I think he will be there for quite a few years to come.

I'd be very concerned if we only kept 3 from that list.

The list accounts for more than one third of our starting 17 this week, you can't just loose that kind of depth and experience, surely 2016 highlighted that.

All well and good to say junior x, y & z all step up but that's a huge experience hit and just as big of a hit to the depth pool, generally something you want to limit to rebuilding phases which we did quite a bit of last year and will probably continue to do to a lesser extent this year. Would be a shame to blow a lot of that by losing so much experience and depth only to spend 2018 investing so heavily in development again. I'd like to think at least half a dozen of those would be retained.

I reckon SKD has at least 2 more yrs in him as a top line first grader, but only if he stays at the Chooks
