well is the team really that good coming off a disaster 2016? it all reminds me of 2012. when we got our team back nothing improved last year and you could say by then it was far too late but generally the rubbish performances remained and we haven't won a trial yet losing close games by 1 and 2 points, that sounds pretty familiar to last year. it was a pretty weak and uninspiring recruitment drive over the summer such as an old fullback, a cast away dressing room cancer plus 3 guys with questionable off field history who could get sacked any day now and i don't take much notice of us winning the 9's especially since we could have been knocked out pretty early on, there's still a few bums in the team like guerra, evans who hasn't shown anything, we've still got quite a few players who really need to actually put in a good deal this year like tupou, ferguson, evans, keary needs to prove himself again, napa needs to step it up, pearce might be getting a few niggling injuries and if he goes down we are well and truly roger'd. i fear that mitchell is wasted in the centre, and this team is going to rely heavily on jwh, bordner and napa to get us going plus sst when he returns.

maybe we will see a drastic turn of events and players putting in more effort, more luck going our way, conversions going in etc but on the surface i don't see what's been done to address such an abysmal season we just had.

it's funny seeing so many people rate us in the top 4 the same people generally who spent all year last year bagging the team out ripping them to shreds suddenly rate them to be amongst the best. i don't know who plays for what team i don't follow the other 14 or 15 teams however many there are these days.

Thats a fair enough opinion that you have expressed but I hope it doesnt pan out that way.

Boogie, you raise an interesting agruement for your opinion for that you are applauded , however you fail to acknowledge that last year we had established no continuity in our spine , this year we are showing signs that this has been addressed.

Like all recruitment it is a gamble , last year we were decimated by lack of retention , this year there are no notable losses so even if the new recruits don't work out we have depth to cover all positions.

To lay the blame for last year at the feet of a few " bums " who possibly tried but lacked quality support , pass selection, confidence , continuity , combinations , regimented discipline to apply the game plan is a little naive and perhaps unfair, they deserve the benefit of the doubt - rest assured they will be out to reverse last years effort, if not just for pride , then cause contrary to popular belief these Roosters are professionals.

With regards to the 9s , we COULD have been knocked out but we didn't - every game they learnt and improved and believed in each other. Was this there last year?

In my opinion we have addressed some of the issues which made last year so abysmal and this year they are a definite top 8 even with injuries.

            Hey Boogieman

I think your glass is half empty but others here have it half full.

Surprising considering your admonition of posters who dare criticise players or the team in the past.

Anyway, I do agree with you Latrell could be wasted at centre though.

nothing wrong with criticising the players, coaching staff, admin etc but I draw the line at calling them spastics and other noise. it goes way over the top after a loss and I would much prefer that I'm the one proven wrong than I'm proven right

They will also have a point to prove after losing points for the salary cap drama last year. It came down to the Titans or Donkeys for the last position for me. I only went Broncos because of the special treatment they get with the draw etc. The Thursday and Friday Night pet ponies and their endless salary cap bucket. I hope to be proven wrong though.

I dont know who to take out of my top 8 maybe the Storm especially if something happens to Smith but the Broncos will definitely be in the 8 unfortunately.

Agreed Brain. On his day, Edrick can be devastating but unfortunately that doesn't happen often enough. Canberra won't miss him and they still have a bad taste in their mouths after last years ending. I'm not blaming him but he certainly contributed to their demise when they deserved better. I wish him good luck as he's a nice guy but I can't see him being there for long.
