I seriously hope not. He'll end up playing for NSW first if that's the case!

We need him more that ever early on so I think we might just have to sit back and hope we can minimize the damage until he returns.

Don't worry you're being trolled by the same person with 3 different accounts.

Cordner will be sweet for round 1.

we need cords to control the weak diffence on the centre of lattrel mitchel? i trhgink they both play same side?fergo seems to have permanent dropsey so really doesnt matter? at least i Donnell at fullback will go about his job quietly anmd professionally and of course keep the points ticking over asa well! both luke keary and Donnell seem to have got a new lease of life at the roosters exciting stuff ahead of us this season?

Wait, what? I only agreed with you!

It would be awesome to see him start the season. We really missed him at the start of last year.

                        I think Donnell is Gordon...yes.

Re Cordner...I think someone is playing games here. Heard nothing to suggest he wont be right for Round 1.

Dylan Walker scores late winner as Sea Eagles defeat Roosters 24-22 in Gosford

AFTER his side’s injury-plagued 2016, who could blame Sydney Roosters coach Trent Robinson for erring on the side of caution with his stars Mitchell Pearce and Boyd Cordner at Gosford last night.

Both were rested for the side’s final hit-out against Manly, won 24-22 by the Eagles off the back of some brilliance from Tom Trbojevic and Dylan Walker.

There was a struck match between the two sides with the scores locked at 18-all at halftime before Walker grabbed a late try off a Blake Green pass to snatch a two point win.

Pearce’s absence was a major talking point with Robinson admitting a trial alongside new halves partner Luke Keary would have been handy going into the season.

But the risk out-weighed the advantages according to the Roosters coach.

“It would have been nice to play Mitchell with Luke and get that combination going but it’s a long season,” Robinson said.

“He was right. He trained all week and was ready to go but we just decided that we didn’t want to risk him tonight. We’ll just get a bit more volume in him and get him ready for round one.

“I just thought another couple of weeks might be a better chance to get him back to full fitness.”

Cordner was close to 100 percent according to Robinson but after he missed a decent chunk of footy through injury at the start of last season, the coach decided against tempting fate there as well.

While the Roosters still have some work to do on combinations, Manly appear a lot more settled and ready to make an early impact.

It is early days but Green’s recruitment at Brookvale could prove to be a masterstroke.

The former Melbourne Storm playmaker appears to have slotted in effortlessly with coach Trent Barrett singing his praises after the win.

“He’s just provided a steady head which is what we’ve needed and is a calming influence out there,” Barrett said.

He has also allowed Barrett to switch Walker back to his more favoured centre spot where he has been close to Manly’s best in the club’s two trial wins and it was no surprise the pair combined for the late matchwinner.

Barrett said his side will take a lot of positives from the win and praised the attitude of his players to hang in for the win.

“We had a fair bit of tackling to do, particularly in that second half so to execute a play at the back end of the game that we needed to when we were behind was pleasing,” he said.

Trbojevic showed exactly how big a force he will be for the Eagles this season with a dominant performance that included scoring a try himself and having a major hand in another.
