Haha I knew we'd get an Ancient Rome pun in there somewhere!

Though I was expecting one of the military and political leader, Gnaeus Pompeius Magnus

I echo your thoughts on Mitchell, JT. I think he's a slam dunk as a devastating centre but he's still got a long way to go at fullback.

All the great champions have the mindset, dedication and mental strength to be the best and it's too early to say whether Mitchell has those qualities.

I look at Ponga for example and he's just got it. To me he looks ready to slot into 1st grade fullback and dominate at 18. From all reports he's mentally switched on and dedicated like a champion already.

Yes. Great move by Newcastle to sign him.

I wish I could mate. Gotta be back in Sydney by 8 unfortunately. I'll be up there working with Blacktown, the Manly feeder, so I'll try to report back about some Wyong players in that game and the 20s. Devo I can't stick around for first grade mate.

          Hmmm...

Yak hasn't posted much recently, and yet inspite of being a new member your post suggests you've been around longer.

Gee... it's almost as if you've had 1 or 2, or 100-200, previous accounts

It goes without saying that Yak is one of the chookpens most esteemed members and his keen insights are universally appreciated. And hopefully we get more throughout 2017.

Cheers mate. Didn't think a discussion about the importance of passing to the inside hip for quick spreads would last two years when it first came up but hey nothing surprises me anymore on this site!

I'll do my best to whip up a couple of reports on some key players in the lower grade games for anyone interested 😊 cheers for the kind words Tommy!

Roger was a superstar both on and off the field.
Mitchell didn't have the benefit of being eased into a powerful team on the wing, he was rushed into FG at Full back of a team that was a rabble. Roger was eased into a powerful side on the wing. He had a sensational 2015 for sure, by which time he had 50 games under his belt. I think Mitchell did well under the circumstances.

Like all young promising players the thing that he will have to get good at is tackling big mother farkers & playing sore.

So your saying by passing to a players inside hip that the player would be able to offload to his outside quicker? I have never heard anything so retarded in all of my years coaching at any level of Rugby League! Passing to anyone's inside hip would inhibit their balance, speed and time to do anything.

You've shown how much you know in the Cordner thread. Why embarrass yourself any further?

                          Haha surely trolling.

If you pass to the inside hip the receiver can quickly transfer the momentum and spread it wide in a single motion.

I dont know the coaching terminology but if you pass it out in front of the receiver they would need to firstly have to move their hands back to their inside hip before firing it wide.

What a fantastic build for a young footballer. Lets hope he sticks with it.

Certainly put on some weight since that video, looked quite big for a centre in the 20s trial. Will be interesting to see how he develops.

                                Fair point.

I am looking forward to seeing Latrell mature this year and next. On field he could definitely make up for the loss of Roger in due course.
