    http://www.roosters.com.au/news/2017..._jack_gid.html

The Sydney Roosters have been saddened to hear of the passing of former trainer, Jack Giddy.

Jack was a significant contributor to Eastern Suburbs teams throughout the late 1980s and 1990s.

The Sydney Roosters extend their condolences to the family and friends of Jack at this sad time.

The funeral service for Jack Giddy will be held at 10.15am on Tuesday, January 31 within the Palm Chapel of Macquarie Park Crematorium (Cnr Delhi and Plassey Roads, North Ryde).

I'll add that this is of personal significance to me since Jack was my trainer. What some may not know is that even up until a few years ago he was an active sprint coach, who trained a number of elite athletes (including former olympic medalists and current national-grade athletes). He did this all out of passion and didn't ask for a dime, despite being a secret horse whisperer for many (his Sunday morning sessions up at Rotary were brutal).

While not my main coach, Jack's ability to simplify my technique did a lot for me. He would say things like 'YOU RUN LIKE A FOOTBALL PLAYER!!! KEEP YOUR MOUTH OPEN AND RELAX YOUR HANDS!!' Magically his simple tricks always did the trick in areas where expensive, over-hyped trainers were left stumped.

Haven't seem him for a number of years and I've long retired from regular physical activity (in favour of drinking). However, I am deeply saddened to hear this news.

Funnily enough, I never knew he was a Roosters trainer! Baaaah... frankly, some people are so much larger than life that nothing surprises me about them!!!

        Heard that too Izzy.
I recall he copped a bit of flack off some ex-players. Usually means they were pissed coz the old bloke is fitter than them.

Good post ISM22. I think P Cerutty (Herb Elliot''s coach)or whatever you spell his name also passed away in the recent years. We have lost a lot of athletic knowledge as a nation in recent years.

              Thanks Ism22.

I recall Jack Giddy as a respected sprint coach for Easts during those years, and we had a few guys with some toe.

              Nice personal reflections too.
