KNIGHTS veteran Jarrod Mullen has been provisionally suspended by the NRL after testing positive to an anabolic steroid.
Mullen returned a positive A-sample for the banned substance Drostanolone on November 29th and his rugby league career is now in the balance.
A series of hamstring injuries already had Mullen’s career on the brink and he now faces the possibility of a lengthy ban that could end his NRL career.
Mullen now has the option of accepting the results or having his B-sample retested.
“The club is obviously extremely disappointed,” Knights CEO Matt Gidley said.
“The club has a strict governance program, the players are regularly educated and fully aware of the consequences of going outside our governance guidelines.
“From here, there is a formal process we need to follow under the guidelines.
“We need to respect the process and in the interim the club will continue to monitor Jarrod’s welfare.”
