I don't understand this thread.
Obviously, without SBW, Jenko RTS and Jimmy, the squad is not stronger than 2013-2014.
But neither is it a crappy squad. It's a squad that, if things go well, we could do some damage.
I don't understand the thread because a) it's wrong, but b) it's not so wrong that it's funny.
But, sure, looking forward to a great season.

On the contrary, I think these threads keep the forum alive! Right now Roosters news/hype is in a serious trough. Why?
- We were shyte last season... absolute shyte.
- Keary's pretty much our only signing since then (despite losing RTS, Jennings, Maloney, SBW, Moa... list goes on) and while he's solid, he's meh.
- There's no footy being played (so we have NFI how the guys are going).
- Besides speculation about who will play where next season, there's not a lot to talk about.
- Once you realise that Turk's just having a giggle and trying to cheer people up, IMO you realise that it's pretty fun having non-serious conversation with other fans. Lets be frank... aside from maybe 2009, this is one of our WEAKEST squads on record since 2002!!! Luke Keary will help out a little, but we're no chance of making the top 4 (whereas most years, anything can happen). Unless you can have a little chuckle about our current status and talk trash...etc, you are in for a REALLY long, REALLY harsh season.

yeh well i look at our team a little differently. i believe we are hungry enough to not repeat 2016. i think the team has the quality and depth to get the job done for 2017. bring it on i say. Pearce of the piss and this a good thing. jwh and elonie having kids is a good thing. They wont be looking to move clubs as stability is a key. (happy wife happy life). we have spare backs, and a couple of X crims who want to repay the club for the opportunity and who will smash it against their old teams.

I think it's a very strong squad. We have tremendous depth that will take us to the top 8.

Obviously not close to the 2013 squad, but arguably better depth in the forwards.

I'm actually very optimistic about 2017. We're an outside shot for the Premiership as the Storm, Cows, Broncos and Sharks have come back to the pack. And the Raiders and Panthers are very good but we shouldn't fear them.

It's a decent squad but it's still missing the X factor imo. Our 2013 X factor was obviously SBW. Even with an exceptional team that year it still took the brilliance of SBW to get over the line in the GF.

I just wonder who our X factor is. SBW, RTS, Jennings, Maloney all had X factor. Make something outa nothing.

Even though I rate SBW as our best since Freddy I think 2015 was our best side.

Such a shame we lost Pearce and Hargreaves right at the back end of the year. We beat both grand finalists in the Home and Away season. I thought we were a class above both.
