Maybe, like Michael Gordon, he's been signed as a stop-gap until some of our younger players earn their stripes.
If I remember the timeline correctly Keary was a desperation signing around the time it became obvious Hastings and Nikorima were not working out as hoped, to put it mildly lol. Subsequent to that Watson was given a crack at no 6 and did fine. Once Watson had shown what he can do I would like to bet Robbo regretted the Keary deal.

Hopefully Keary ends up on the bench with Watson back at 6.

It seemed that way at the time from my perspective too. I'm hopeful his running game might compliment Pearce however and we might go ok

A lot of negatives towards Keary

How often have we recruited players that are supposedly $hit

& turned them into weapons, give him 10 regular season games then we can call each other out regarding pre season judgment

Connor must feel aggrieved but as fans competition for positions is for the good

unless your Toop's, aka "Teachers Pet"
        "Qui audet adipiscitur"

I agree with the comment that the pack & refs helped Souths massively in 2014. In that prelim final Souths won for 3 reasons; T'eo, S.Burgess & refs in no particular order. Keary did set up 1 try, & did the same in the GF.

Like most modern halves, Keary looks wonderful when the pack is dominating & woeful when they're not. I suspect this has much to do with the overly structured play of current league.

Keary is a good competitor, but his kicking game is average & teams are now awake to the dummy that worked well early in his career. I hope Keary goes well in 2017, except in Round 1!

            Hey matey,

Dont quite understand why you want Keary to play poorly against the Titans?

We play Souffs in round 3 or 4? 🤔😎

Why? Are you a Titans fan?

Yes, I plead guilty to assuming that Souths vs Roosters would be meeting in round 1 like most previous years!

I suppose it does make financial sense to put Souths vs Tigers first up, given the whole Farah drama. A former league tragic mate of mine is an old Balmain fan. We will probably go along to the round 1 match, and I very rarely attend live matches these days. The last live match I saw was the 2014 prelim final (bunnies vs chooks). I was in the cheap seats behind the Southern goal posts with my cousin, a Roosters supporter.

I don't mind the Titans but am certainly not a fan. Without having any inside information at all, it seems that coach Henry can really get the best out of average players. That must mean that he can really coach. Honestly speaking, I think that this is an area where both coaches Robinson and Maguire are yet to be fully proven in the NRL. I know they both had success in the Super League before coming back though.

Stop being silly boys and girls.
Every one to ta "T" hated Keary when he was a $ouff$ anyone that says anything else and is not a Roosters supporter is lying. I can't remember seeing one positive comment about him, (I can't remember last week )

But now he is one of us nearly every single one of us is willing to give him a chance, pat him on the back and wish him all the best.

                    1. Keary became available because he fell out with Russ (who is a tool) not because he lacked form.
                    2. Desperation? I think the options were Coote as 5/8 (who is a FB and got bribed by some scam property deal up north that nobody can compete with) and Cronk (who is a distributing HB and will never leave Melbourne). Other options included Soward, Sandow and Carney, none of which are great options.
                    3. Watson got a run because we were on the ropes, Nikorima got injured and Hastings fell out with the club. He's a zippy ball runner, but that's about it.
                    4. I don't really care who plays FE but I think you'll find that Keary has been earmarked for Origin by QLD and NSW. He's our best FE option by a country mile!
                    5. Remember last season how you were all like 'I'm glad Pearce is gone because all the juniors are better than him'. Remember how we learned that Pearce was actually a lot better than any of the rookies? Yeah... same with Keary. If some rookies step up and force him out then greeeeat! But Watson would have to start grabbing games by the scruff of the neck rather than being a zippy hole runner in order to do this. Just saying...

TLDR mate. I think you're trying to say Keary sucks and Watson is heaps better. Totally agree mate, well said.

                        I hope Keary goes well.
But I really enjoyed watch Watson play in 2016 and Keary had better be pretty good to keep Watson on the bench.

I'm assuming Watson at least gets a bench spot.

                          Has no kicking game
                          Suspect in defence
Has an awful dummy no one falls for and he gets smashed every time
                          Cannot control a game
Tends to go missing when the chips are down
Loves to tell the coach how to coach
Puts team mates offside by openly blaming them when he has a bad game

                          His good points:

                          Has moments of attacking brilliance

I have seen almost every game he has played. Watson has more natural ability than Keary and if you're seriously relying on Keary to solve your halves problem then you REALLY have a problem. Not a good partner for Myth either because he's also incapable of a decent kicking game or controlling a game.

                          Good luck.

PS: If you want to get the best out of him, play him off the bench as a fill in hooker. He goes well there and gets the team moving forward. He had some of his best games for Souths being used this way.
