  • Win tomorrw may leave us 2 points out of the 8

Please correct me if I am wrong but I was just looking at the table and if the Warriors lose to Melbourne and we defeat the Knights then that should put us on 14 points and two points off 7th place not taking for and against into consideration.

A few wins are we are right back in contention for a finals place. I know we are lucky to win anything at the moment but all hope may not be lost. Am I just torturing myself? Thoughts??

It had been like that for a month or so. Ever since the Cowboys game. Which is why the terrible losses we have suffered have destroyed me.

I keep on hearing stories of an unhappy camp and the results seem to back it up. But they have been going well in defence which would tend to show that it is not as bad as I hear at all.

I am hoping for a few wins to lift the confidence.

        Starting tomorrow.

I tend to agree that things are not as unhappy as some people think.
I look at the Bulldogs as well and hear the stories about how unhappy they all are, yet when I speak to people actually involved in the organisation everyone is happy, and the talk about unhappiness is coming from a disgruntled source outside the team itself.
The word is the biggest problem the Dogs have is Andrew Ryan and that they don't want to drop him, but he just is not good enough

End of the day we need 28 points to make the 8 though...
The teams above us will keep winning and the Titans/Raiders/Sharks seem to keep winning as well.

It feels a bit like playing tennis when you're deuce but the other guy is serving and has the advantage. Although you're even with them and close to winning the game, you really have to score 3 in a row (against the serve) in order to get anywhere. You might keep going WLWLWLWLWLWL... but the wins you pull off don't really count towards anything.

IMO we are no hope unless we basically start winning 3 or 4 games in a row - we can only really afford to drop 2 more games. When you factor in the fact that most teams above/below us are going to play each other, there's also more room for panic because there will be weeks where no matter how well the results go for us, we can't climb the ladder because another team has to win.

I know I'm pessimistic, but it would be sooooo much easier if we didn't fark up against the Sharks and Titans. If we could beat them (like every other goddamn team in the comp) then we'd potentially already be in the top 8!! Good luck and I hope we make the 8, but it's gonna be tough given how far we are away from 28 points (we're not even 1/2 way there and that's with 2 byes under our belt!!)

Even by some miracle we get close to the top 8, our crap for/against will make it even more difficult.

Being an optimist, and also a realist, making the semi's will continue to mask the problems!

Whatever happens, will be doing the 4 hour round trip to support the boys in Tinkler Bogan Town.

                from the sunday teleCRAP:

                Roosters ready for mission improbable

Tyson Otto From: The Daily Telegraph June 25, 2011 12:00AM

A FINAL freshener has the Sydney Roosters primed to scale the mountain that stands between them and a spot in the finals.
Sitting 14th on the ladder with four wins in 16 rounds, last year's runners-up know they need to win nine of their last 11 games to be assured of a spot in the top eight.

Coming off a bye, stars Mitchell Pearce and Anthony Minichiello have declared they feel the pressure of an underwhelming start to the season is gone after coach Brian Smith gave his players a few days away from the footy field.

But their dire situation will again be staring them in the eye on Sunday when they take on Newcastle in a special Women In League Round clash in another match players have described as "must win".

"We've had a good couple of days away; a good freshener," Pearce said. "Everyone's upbeat at the moment.

"Our last bye was the City-Country weekend. In the middle of the season nearly every player is dealing with bruises and strains.

"You feel pretty fatigued, especially after Origin.

"Smithy didn't really say too much other than to get away, relax and get ready for Newcastle."

With star centre Shaun Kenny-Dowall ruled out with an ongoing ankle injury, the task is made more difficult against a Knights outfit trying to impress new chief executive Matt Gidley.

Kenny-Dowall will be replaced by Kane Linnett who will make his return from a serious shoulder injury.

While they could still sneak into the top eight with eight more wins to finish on 28 competition points, TAB Sportsbet has all but condemned the Roosters, installing them $1.05 certainties to miss September football.

The Roosters will welcome back winger Sam Perrett for Sunday's clash and new recruit Anthony Mitchell is also set to make his debut for the club in the next few weeks.s after beginning training with the club earlier this week to fill the hole left by the retirement of Mark Riddell.

Part of me wants to hope but the majority of me is preparing to watch the Australians embarrass themselves in Sri Lanka in August.

JT ist the guy that played for Newtown last week. He caused the set back and unfortunately he went from best player in teh world to costing us our season thats why the players are dirty their off season was a waste.

But the guy is on the mend and teh wounds are healing. But JT, do as melon has done....forget 2011.

I've written off 2011 and view it as another 2009. If it is any better than that then that will be a bonus.

My aspirations for Easts are modest for 2011. I would like to see them score 3 or 4 tries in a game, not win it, just score more than 12 or 14 points.

Reflecting on 2010, so many spectacular comebacks at the back end of season, after being in a losing position and on the end of terribly biased refereeing, as the team believed they had what it took to put on points quickly. Carney's brilliance and Anasta's leadership.

The team's confidence is zilch. As for Carney, I just hope the guy attains some kind of mental stability, and that he doesn't top himself. I no longer expect him to fulfill what seemed to be unlimited potential. We all think as supporters that we are the ones feeling the most down, when our weekends are soured by our team losing week after week. I know most probably don't care, but I can guarantee Todd is feeling way more terrible and disappointed about the way things have turned out, if not clinically depressed, which is how it appears he is performing. Some of us on this forum I am sure have had mental health issues, but without the scrutiny and public knowledge of hundreds of thousands of people, not to mention the death-riding and harrassment by self appointed people of influence like Ray Hadley, Bachelor of Taxi Driving.

Damn straight, avoiding the spoon should be our main concern at this point. And why is making the 8 the holy grail when a towelling by one of the top sides awaits!?
