  • OK WHO WAS IT. FESS UP

A Roosters fan has written an animated letter to CEO John Lee in disgust of the club's three recent bad-boy signings of Zane Tetevano, Paul Carter and Liam Knight, who have all been shown the door at their former club.

The fan, Reddit user adomental, posted his letter on the website and claimed the off-season signings have tarnished the Roosters reputation and caused grief amongst their supporters.
Former Newcastle prop Zane Tetevano had been sacked from two clubs after being convicted and jailed for domestic violence, while Souths and Manly forwards Paul Carter and Liam Knight were released for a string of alcohol related incidents.
''I think you really need to put yourselves in the fans shoes when you decide to sign players with such histories,'' the fan wrote.
''You are asking me as a supporter to support these players, to put my feelings about their crimes aside and cheer them as I cheered past Roosters players who I had a great deal of respect for; names like Fittler, Minichiello and Fitzgibbon.''
The die-hard fan noted Roosters CEO John Lee responded to his letter via a phone call and justified the club's reasons for signing the trio.
''He (John Lee) said they liked giving players the opportunity to change and cited the examples of Jake Friend and Blake Ferguson who both have a criminal history but have turned themselves around to the point they were both selected for Australia this week,'' the fan stated.
The fan gave credit to Lee for his response, however, the Roosters have still lost a 2017 membership.
''You have some social obligation to your fans. Like it or not, fans, especially young ones, are going to look up to these players. You as the management of the club have an obligation that they are worth looking up to. Especially when you are taking a risk on so many players with a past,'' the fan said.
''I'm going to keep my boycott going. As long as they are signed to the Roosters, I won't be wearing Roosters flair on here. It's only a small gesture, but there's not much else I can do.''

Dunno him in person but the guy's a bit of a tool on Reddit. I used reddit for a bit when this forum was busted and quickly ran away (didn't like the style/contributions - was all really immature rubbish).

Wouldn't think this business is worth jumping on the soapbox about.
Although we're living in the easily outraged "off with their heads" society we created for ourselves, I'm sure the clubs got thousands of clauses in these contracts.

It'd be a different story if I supported club Fulton.
Discarding Buhrer to sign Uate and Sironen????
      That's letter writing territory.............

As a fan, I just don't understand why we let go of Meehan to sign these guys. You either have off field behaviour standards or you don't. The nrl is a merry go round for these guys who muck up, are sacked by their clubs and just get picked up next season elsewhere.

These guys are probably all willing to change whilst maybe no one at the club saw that with Meehan.

Also you can only give someone so many chances before you have to let them go, and let another club pick them up on the cheap. We've profited from it many times.

From the Roar. Should the Roosters re-think their ‘Dickheads Policy’?

Following recent concerns regarding personnel and recruitment strategy, Roosters fans are now fearing their club has embraced a radical new policy of squad management.
In a move that would contravene one of modern sport’s most popular principles, many are convinced club administration has secretly invoked a controversial ‘Dickheads Policy’.
This has come about following a series of signings and departures that has left the elite playing ranks approximately one-third under warrant.
While yet to be confirmed, such a policy would be a risky move for the Roosters considering the growing popularity of the polar opposite, i.e. the ‘No Dickheads Policy’.
This method is enjoying widespread acclaim after the pro-sports industry eventually discovered the advantages of not associating with dickheads.
As witnessed this week, the No Dickheads ethos has been recently adopted to useful effect by Mal Meninga with Kangaroos selection, while Queensland have claimed to use it for years despite plenty of evidence to the contrary.
But despite its virtues, the Roosters active role in the player market this off-season is the final nail proving they have gone in rogue reverse.
After seemingly scouring the ranks of the NSW Cup and the courthouses, coach Trent Robinson and his recruitment ninjas have acquired Liam Knight, Zane Tetevano and Paul Carter, a trio dodgier than a ponytail on a middle-aged male.
In addition to a steady 18 months of shedding blue-chip stars and law-abiders – not to mention some of the existing group’s macabre extra-curricular form – it was news that sent the fans in to meltdown.
Tensions were then heightened further following this weekend’s reports of Dylan Napa’s boozy blow-out in international airspace. However, this has reportedly put him in line for the captaincy.
Many supporters are now convinced this behaviour from club hierarchy is no longer coincidental or just a sustained case of derelict governance.
If true, the Dickheads Policy is a bold strategy for a club already known for its long-standing habit for throwing a bone to bad boys and philistines.
Not only does its implementation demand a judicious eye, it also requires shrewd bargaining skills and a state-of-the-art security system. Might want to hide the key to Nick Politis’s safe, too.
However, the recent uproar suggests winning over a sceptical Roosters fan-base will not be easy.
Not only are they grappling with the loss of a number of cleanskins including Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, the uber-holy Sonny Bill Williams and now recently Sam Moa, some are even yearning for a return of the comparable acceptability of James Maloney’s sausage humour.
One fan was particularly scathing towards Robinson and his role in the strategy, remarking “you know it’s bad when you’re criticising a coach in the immediate aftermath of a grand final and it isn’t Brian Smith.”
However, club supporters are in agreement on one advantage.
They concede the brave plan should, at the very least, see almost none of their side playing representative footy next year.

BigChook I suppose the obvious difference is that Meehan slready got his chances with our Club. With Robbo.

Robbo obviously backs himself to get these guys on the straight and narrow. He couldn't do it with Meehan so said enoughs enough.

You can also look at this another way. if the Club is willing to give these guys a chance, particularly Tetavano, then they must really believe they are exceptional players. Otherwise surely they wouldn't bother.

We've had wins and loses in this department, Friend, Fergo, Pearce you can put in the win column, Carney, Meehan, Pearce, Mason you can put in the lose column.

If only one of the three fires up and takes the opportunity it'll be worth it.

                          Chook.
