  • SST - Knee recon or not????

I have not seen anything official from the club saying he had a ACL or whether any operation was successful.

There was one report a few weeks ago saying he would be ready for Round 1.

So has anyone seen anything from the club or SST?

I have heard unofficially he will miss the first couple of months so it seems he has had the operation.

I’m sure it was an ACL he did but I’m not sure what grade it was. If it was a grade 2 (Grade 2 sprain stretches the ligament to the point where it becomes loose this is often referred to as a partial tear of the ligament) he would of had a arthroscopy which usually has sportsmen out of action for about 3 months but if he had a grade 3 (Grade 3 complete tear of the ligament the ligament has been split into two pieces, and the knee joint is unstable) he would of had a complete knee reconstruction which usually keeps sportsmen out for 7 to 9 months.
I know he has definitely had an operation & is currently doing his rehab, I know that because I rang the Sydney Roosters & that’s what I was told.

        Thanks gents.
They are usually fairly good announcing the actual injury and time out but they haven't officially said anything this time and the Injuries page on the website has been removed.
I was hoping that was a good sign that the injury was not as serious as a full recon but the lack of information could just be because it was our last game of the season and they all hopped on the next plane to Vegas.

Based on recent form, the official announcement will lag the Chookpen announcement by 2-4 weeks. So, we should know in the next month.

BUDDY I sent an email to Brad Pettitt 0n 06/10/2016 & received an email back this morning

                Hi Brad
Just wanted to ask you about Sio Siua Taukeiaho.
Did he do his ACL & if so how did the operation go?
I hope it went well & if it did I would imagine he is now doing his rehab working towards getting himself fit for next season.
Could you find out when it is likely that he will return next year?
Which round are they looking at him returning by?
I always look forward to hearing any news about my beloved Chooks.

I hope you can fill me in on my query on Sio Siua Taukeiaho SST.
                Kind regards Mickie Lane
                I love my Chooks
                Go the MIGHTY ROOSTERS.

                And this is his reply
                Hi Mickie,
I hope you enjoyed the news yesterday about SioSiua!
His operation went well, very successful and all being equal he should hopefully be back on the park mid next season. I have seen him in the gym most days so I’m sure his dedication and professionalism will ensure he is back on the park sooner rather than later.

                Cheers

Mid next year so his ACL injury must have been a grade 3 needing a complete knee reconstruction.

I think you may of got him mixed up with someone else because after just recently having a complete knee reconstruction there is no way he would be walking freely.

I just noticed SST tweeted this last night:
knees coming along well. Hopefully start running late November and fingers cross be back early next season.
