  • The Keary Crystal Ball...

How will this one go in 2017?

A total disappointment who gets consistently singled out and steamrolled in defence?

A revelation who re-imagines our attack with the the short kicking game we've always lacked?

Or some kind of ram-raiding / punting / partying controversy?

Hopefully a revelation. Some different options. New formations. Much needed due to STORM / SHARK like defence.

I'd go with a fourth option 'Better than expected, but don't expect a miracle'.

He is a good solid player, and I think having Watson lurking in the background will see plenty of motivation to perform to his best, I think he will also put his hatred of Rusty, McGuire and co to good use, and that will drive him to succeed.

Pearce & Friend will still be calling the shots attack-wise i presume, so i'd expect Keary will be given the opportunity to play what's in front of him - hopefully a lot of running at the line and unpredictability.

Speaking of Watson, I can only guess he will be coming off the bench as the back up rake for Friendy in 2017.

Watson should have replaced Maloney from the start, it was a joke that they signed an under 20's kid from another team and put him ahead of one of our own and Hastings was only ever signed on his name alone as well. Keary was a knee jerk reaction signing and we've stuffed it all up because Watson finally got a go after all the other duds who had a go and played well. We should have kept Maloney anyway but that's pretty farcken obvious

He will go OK in a Craig Field kind of way.

They chased hard for Keary when they missed out on Lachlan Coote & even harder when Moses stayed put @ the Tigers. I would have much preferred Coote tbh.

I honestly think we dodged a bullet with Coote man. He had a hoorible finals series and we would have been shelling out about $2.8m over 4 seasons for the dude.

He has no short kicking game that we have seen. Reynolds did all Souths short kicking.

I wasn't going to give this one a run, but it's the off season and I've nothing else to write about.

Next door neighbour (member in Bay 13) has a mate who is fairly high up at North Sydney .

North Sydney guy reckons souths couldn't get rid of him quick enough on the that grounds that he's a disruptive influence, and was always causing trouble by bagging teammates. Sound like anyone we know?

It turns out that the spat with Rusty in Coffs wasn't about his performances, it was Rusty having a go at him, asking why he's such a prick all the time....

Not saying this is gospel, but it's come from a pretty good source.

Anyway, we'll soon find out. Or at least we'll soon start hearing rumours...

Keary is a talented player and I doubt he has peaked yet. I hope he will at Easts and I hope we see him and Pearce form a good combination. I was watching a replay of that epic 2010 semi against the Tigers and we looked dangerous when Pearce and Carney combined. It made the defence make decisions on the fly and that sort of unpredictability has been missing from our attack this year. Maybe Keary can free up Pearce and vice versa?

I am excited because we need all the help we can get in attack. He is not afraid to take on the line like Maloney and that is what we are crying out for.

                            ...
So he's got buckleys of getting the ball from dummy half?

This. Before Maloney started I said he will be just as important to us as Carney due to his running game. I will say the same thing about Keary.
