  • Who do you think from the 20's do you think will make the NRL ???

The real standouts for me are

    Joseph Manu
    Grant Garvey
    Victor Radley
    Nat Butcher
    Brendan Frei

Although there is some real talent in that side....

Not sure whether he'd make it or not but geez I love watching Sukamanu Raki run the ball.

Manu is a must for first grade next year he is ready.
Butcher will be in the squad and so will Garvey they will get chances next year to develop
Radley is very good but like the other center Anderson will need another year
Frei showed heaps of potential -great running vision..
Manu is some thing special and tie him up long term

Your first 4 players are morals for first grade, others will play first grade but elsewhere as is the norm, big fan of Raki he changes the game with his running, fitness is a huge worry though unless we are looking at a Kasiano type player.

I think Jared Anderson has all the makings of a 1st grader however will have a long list in front of him in centers and wing

        Kiah Cooper probably not.
        Bernard Lewis, maybe.
Joseph Manu looks promising but so did Tau Tau Moga. I dont think Manu is as good as Tanne Milne.
        Jarred Anderson, maybe.
Johnny Tuivasa-Sheck, I think he will but I dont think it will be for long.
Paul Momirovski, I rate his attacking ability but I dont think he is tough enough so no.
Jesse Marchke, I dont think so.
        Poasa Faamausili, not sure
        Grant Garvey, I think so
        BenThomas, possibly.
Reuben Porter, I think he will.
Victor Radley, he looks very promising.
Nat Butcher, he is on the same path as what Boyd Cordner was on.
        Branden Frei, I think so
        Sitili Tupouni, not sure
Jarrod Boland, I think he might
        Sukamanu Raki, Maybe.

Radley showed his versatility on Sunday which makes him a good bench option. I'm not sure what position he will end up in but I love his temprament. I wouldnt hesitate putting him in first grade next year for some experience despite still having 2 years left in the 20s.

Joey Manu's recent performances have been a bit concerning, like most I've wanted to see him in first grade for a while now. On recent outings though I just wonder if he needs sometime in reserves to learn what percentage footy looks like. The talent is undeniable though.

Nat Butcher is an interesting one, for a middle he's still incredibly young and I would resist the temptation to put him in First Grade too early. I'd be putting a lot of time and resource into his development though. Will probably end up being used as a depth option next year. I'd let him dominate the 20s for a little longer.

I dont know how old Brendan Frei is? But hes got a lot of filling out to do before he can crack it in grade. Another season in the 20s at least. Looks a promising player though.

Grant Garvey is the tough one, he looks a brilliant prospect but then so have many hookers in the NYC before him. The number of them who actually convert that to First Grade though has almost been non existent, there wouldnt even be a handful of dummy halves who have progressed to starting roles in the last 5 years. I wonder if the loose rucks and lazy defence makes the NYC a dummy halfs paradise. I'd like to see him in reserve grade first.

I really like the look of Kiah Cooper too, he's definitely not a fullback but I think hes a really promising centre prospect. Really hope he gets a full season in the centres next year to show what he's got.

Thought the halfback had a good game too great pass to Manu for the first .
Nothing concerning about Manu he has been the go to man through the semis he breaks first tackle frequently ...always puting some thing on .
May have benn a few misses but is it because he is class above the rest of his team mates and they cant keep up with him or expect a play out of nothing>
Its a bit of both .

Hoping our retension officials identify the highly promising ones because other clubs like the Sharks and Cowboys are sure to swoop.

Aside from those already mentioned above, our two starting bookends - Thomas & Poasa are bright prospects and so to is Jared Anderson & Porter.

Felt like Thomas and Poasa drifted in and out of games. Not sure if it was a dirrective from the coaching team but both lacked hitups all finals series.

If Raki can get some fitness under his belt, could be anything, love how he runs the ball back

Manu is SKD all over again, a rocks and diamonds type of player, question is can we harness more of the good stuff.

Radley just signed a 2yr contract extension

I expect 2-3 of them will have some form of successful 1st grade career. Another 6-7 of them will play a 2-3 seasons at one club or another, and the rest will likely get a handful of games then either be tossed or give it up.

Traditionally the conversion rate from U20s to successful first grader is pretty damned low. Look at the best U20s team ever assembled - our 2004 Flagg side - and you'll see just how little age restricted performance transfers over to the big leagues.

Take nothing away from them, of course. Their achievements in making it even to U20s puts them in an elite group most of us here would have given our left nut to be a member of

I think Jesse Marshke is still pretty raw but has the base to work with and could develop into a handy half.

Manu and Butcher are the obvious choices, but outside of them I reckon any one of that 3/4 line could make it.
Of the forwards, I like the look of the props Ben Thomas and Farmer Silly, and Frei jnr is very willing. Ain't sure about Radley. He's a standout in that grade, but dunno if his build for his best position would hack the nrl or not.

But I remember when the unders 2o's started and we had a very strong team.
I predicted 3 players then who I thought would make it, Friend, Rohan Ahern and the ful;lback ( cant remember his name, but he ended up at Ipswich).
                            So I was 1 outta 3.

We came second last that year and only avoided the wooden spoon because we literally kicked the shit out of saints in the final game
