  • Tetavano rubber stamped to play for Roosters by NRL integrity unit

    A good pick up imo.

Plays a very similar role to Moa. Runs straight with plenty of power & hits just as hard in defence. Probably a good sign that Moa is going to be moved on.

Woman bashing scum. I'd rather he fell off a cliff tbh.

I'm all for second chances and all that, but there's some offences that are unforgivable imo.

Sadly it's a reflection of our society that such an abhorrent crime is not met with a harsh sentence.

Women bashers should be treated like sex offenders and child abusers. Put ankle bracelets on the ****s and monitor their every move.

They absolutely shouldn't have the privilege of playing in the NRL again.

He was jailed last year for nine months for assaulting his former girlfriend with his barrister at the time telling a magistrate he had “no desire to return to the toxic environment that the NRL invites”.
But after having the sentence reduced to no-time-served on appeal just over 12 months ago, former Newcastle prop Zane Tetevano is poised to resurrect his NRL career next season after being thrown a lifeline by the Sydney Roosters.

The NRL Integrity Unit last night confirmed they had rubber-stamped Tetevano’s NRL return following his assault conviction, saying he had spent two years out of the game and had met all rehabilitation requirements set for him.

The Roosters are banking on some of league’s baddest boys coming good at Bondi Junction next year.
The tricolours are poised to sign sacked Rabbitoh Paul Carter in what is shaping as his final chance in the NRL.

Carter, the son of former Panther Steve Carter, was previously sacked by the Gold Coast and again struggled with off-field discipline at Redfern.
The Roosters have also signed Manly prop Liam Knight and are eyeing Zane Tetevano, who was sacked by Newcastle following domestic violence charges.

I admit that other than his criminal offence, I had never heard of this guy or seen him play. Is he any good? What body shape, who does he play like?

I think it's pretty obvious the club is looking for some Aggro. These players mentioned all walk a fine line. Let's hope we don't lose some good consistently tough forwards as a result of this. Granted I guess these new players will free up some cap space. But at what risk?

Agreed however he has served his punishment.

Sounds like he has turned his life around. I'm happy to give him some slack.

Roughly 6'2 110kg i'd guess, give or take a little. Runs hard and hits hard.

Yep I'm with you on this one. While I don't support his crime... he's done his time.

                          What's better?
                          1. The guy does his time, learns to be an acceptable member of society and walks into a job after prison where he can have a chance at redemption if he doesn't f*ck up.
                          2. Put him in prison for 20 years, release him into society as a 45 y/o with no job prospects (who hates the system + has become a hardened criminal) and have him living off welfare for the rest of his life.

My only concern is that we might not be the best club for all these former badboys. Last thing they need is INTENSE media scrutiny and a club that is under a boot load of pressure to perform having come 15th.

You don't juat get outta prison and everything's ridgey didge. This is a seriously troubled person we're talking about. He's probably better off up in QLD where the media (and fans) protect their locals from all scrutiny. Still yet to see 'the video' of what Roberts did.

2nd chance at life and a footy career.
Lets give him a go , and with a good coach and support he will earn it.
