  • 2017 backline??

    1- Mitchell
    2 - SKD
    3 - Fergo
    4 - Manu/Copley
    5 - Toops/Gordon

I can't see how we can fit all these blokes in?? Manu has to higher on the rung than Copley already ? Gordon would surely offer more than Toops?

    1. Gordon
    2. Mitchell
    3. Fergo
    4. SKD
    5. Copley/Toops/Manu

SKD might be on the wing, but the last spot will be between those 3 you'd have to think. Mitchell and Gordon will swap back and forward like Mini and RTS did.

It will all depend on injuries.
Gordon will be on 1 wing or FB if Mitchell is injured purely for his goal kicking. SKD will definitely be in there but where Im not sure, I would say Fergusson will be there also but where Im not sure.
Copley will be there for at least 2 games & they will be against the Broncos so Toups, Copley & Manu will fit in around what happens with injury & rep footy.

        Gordon/Mitchell
        Gordon/Mitchell
        Fergo
        Copley
        SKD
        Keary
        Pearce

Toops and Manu will definitely pressure for a spot though
A full off season with us will be good for Copley
SKD will give us better starts to our sets then Toops will.
Watson to play 14 and hopefully get longer stints on the field.

Mitchell needs to harden up in the offseason, I know he's only young, but it seems every game he ends up limping or needing some sort of medical attention, which is not uncommon for players of aboriginal decent, a good conditioning coach should work closely with him in the off season, I wish we could attract Dean Pay to the position, and please somebody teach Copley not to tackle with his head in the wrong position, otherwise his time playing league will be limited.

Gordon is only good for a backup fullback. I wouldn't even think about playing him on the wing, he is too small and not quick enough. I think we need to start Mitchell at Fullback and give him a break on the wing throughout the season.

As for 5/8, im not sold on Keary. it's no coincidence that the timing of his injury is the same time Souths started to win. He seems to stifle their attack, he is a running 5\8 rather than a ball playing 5/8 and we already have a surperb running 5/8 in Watson and really needed an organizing halve to support Pearce. The other issue Keary has is his defence. He is small and is often targeted by opposition coaches, I think he maybe better used coming off the bench similar to the role Niko was going to play.

Any person that doesnt have Manu in their run on team next year must have rocks in their head. In three or four games in first grade he performed better than any Topou or Copley game.

                Should start the season looking like;

                1;Gorden
                2; Latrell
                3; Manu
                4; Skids
                5; Fergo
                6; Keary
                7; Pearce

                Finish the season looking like;

                1; Latrell
                2; Toups
                3; Manu
                4; Skids
                5; Fergo
                6; Watson
                7; Pearce

I think whilst SST is out injured Gordon will be in the side purely for his goal kicking otherwise the responsibility will go to Mitchell & I think the powers to be at the Roosters wouldnt want that burden on him. I could be wrong.

Is Gordon only here for the one year? I think the plan was to move toops on but he's started to go strong lately, and SST has started to improve his kicking.

Manu might have to wait another year for Gordon to leave then he will have his full time gig. With SST likely injured early next year, I see it being
                    1. Gordon
                    2. Mitchell
                    3. Copley
                    4. Skd
                    5. Fergo

                    Or

                    1. Gordon
                    2. Toops
                    3. Fergo
                    4. Skd
                    5. Mitchell

Whilst I admire his athletic ability, I hope we have seen the last of Toops. Too many school boy errors. Especially when we have two other high mistake players in Fergo and SKD.
Simple errors crueler us this year in several games

Why we keep Toops is beyond me.. He's not worth the hassle for the 4 or 5 good games a year.. Same as Copley should be at Wyong except for when we play the broncos.

Gordon was signed to help Mitchell adjust to fullback just like Mini did with RTS.. He can also help work on the goal kicking for our blokes

                          Gordon, skd, manu, fergo, latrell.

Latrell and gordon swapping in the oppositions 20-30 metre line. Fergo with a full off season at centre working on his defence

Keary and Pearce in the halves.

                          Its as simple as that.

If Toups isn't getting released he will be in the team
next year. After so many crappy games this year, Robbo has shown his position is guaranteed.

It would not bother me at all when Fergo departs.
