  • Favourite Commentators, TV or Radio, name 2....

    Mine:

TV - Warren Ryan on Fox. I used to think he hated us - now he's a very entertaining caller with some really funny one-liners. Usually calls the game with Greg Alexander whom I also like.

Radio - Matt Elliot - surprisingly knowledgeable and astute observer of the game for someone I used to think was a bong smoking space cadet. Seems like a good chap. Interesting, he did not excel as a coach.

Warren Smith you mean I presume, not Warren Ryan? Warren Ryan was one of my favourites though. Told it exactly as he saw it. Warren Smith is not one of mine.

Brandy is good. I can handle Voss in small doses but too much of Voss gets on the nerves a bit.

    Matt Elliot is good.

Peter Wilkins was my all time favourite. They need to get him back calling the league again. He had a way of making it exciting without being annoying which is very rare amongst other commentators.

His name is Warren Smith, Warren Ryan retired from calling the footy on ABC radio because I think he offended someone.

TV. I like Vossy on Fox because he is a funny bloke & I think Gasnier has a great knowledge of the game.
Radio. Frank Hyde, I can still remember his calls from when I was young. "It's long enough, it's high enough It'sStraight Between The Posts."

Warren Smith and Brandy are the best combo and I like Gasnier as a presenter as he is genuine, unbiased and has a pretty good footy understanding.

I can't stand Warren Smith. Far too opinionated for me and whoever there is even a hint of foul play he is all over it like the drama queen he is.
Maybe I'm old fashioned but to me the main caller is there to call the action, with the 'colour ' commentator there to give expert opinion. Smith wants to do both.

The tough part for me is that Alexander is my favourite co commentator. Very knowledgeable and unbias. But he always partners Smith 🙁

Ray Warren was good when he was calling the Amco Cup.
Frank Hyde was old school good.
Rex was at his best on Controversy Corner.
                Warren Ryan smart.
Channel 9 - Sterlo and Andrew Johns are pretty good. Gus is brilliant a quarter of the time. Freddy's good value.
Fox - Brandy and Gaz are great. - knowledgeable and don't bag players unnecessarily. Vossy's alright. Liking Mal Meninga and Kevin Walters. Toovs and Billy Moore are good value. Paul Kent is good. Ikin's okay.

They sometimes partner Belcher with Smith on Saturdays, he is terrible.

I like the MMM guys. Ginnane and Maroon are class, and I quite like Soward and Girdler as pundits as well. I don't mind Gallen but Sailor is a bimbo and Tallis is an utter imbecile.

On Fox I think Smith, Brandy and Gaz are great, and Braith's ok, if not a bit intense.

Over on Channel 9, the women are excellent - particularly Sampson - with the men being utterly cretinous; least worst to absolute worst:
                    5. Sterling
                    4. Johns
                    3. Warren
                    2. Fittler
                    1. Gould

Probably a bit harsh on Sterling, but the others shouldn't be allowed within 40 yards of a microphone.
Making Steve Naughton look like Vince Mellars...

                            Tallis and Hadley then daylight.

Laurie Daley was an excellent caller when he was Fox a few years back. He and Tallis were the dream team.

Bozo Fulton was very good too.
