I thought Cornish played for Wyong?
If Pearce is indeed out, then it would make more sense to replace him with Hastings considering he has previous experience with Watson in the halves.
It all depends on whether we want to play for the 2 points or plan for the future ...
Tyler cornish plays with the roos and Nicholas Cornish (more than likely the brother) has only played a few games as the half with the nyc team. Why use an unexperienced nyc half tonite when we have jnr horrie, tyler, connor and ryan.

Using Cornish is a sign of desperation not planning for the future.
I am pretty sure Watson is out tonight. Tyler Cornish is probably pulled out of the NYC team as he is 2 years too old to play for them. If anything, I would expect Garvey to come in somewhere.
SYDNEY Roosters will bring in a debutant to cover the late withdrawal of halfback Mitchell Pearce for Monday’s clash with Penrith. Pearce has been forced to withdraw hours before the game with a calf injury. It means rookie playmaker Ryan Matterson will move off the bench into the halves, and NYC hooker Grant Garvey will make his NRL debut. Garvey was pulled from the club’s under 20s side prior to their game and will be rushed onto the bench for the Roosters. It’s unknown exactly what role he will play against the Panthers at Pepper Stadium.
