  • Roosters v Melbourne... DISCUSS!!!!

Tough game coming up today... IMO the Sharks got silly last week and rested Gallen/Maloney for most of the game. This allowed us to score some easy tries and look semi-competitive.

Other teams (e.g. the Cowboys) are starting to hit their straps leading into the final. I suspect the Storm will too. The bookies are paying roughly $4 for us to win and I think that's about right.

All season we've failed to finish teams off. I think the best we can hope for is to stick with these guys and give them a run for their money. However we are due a bloody upset victory after so many 'close but no cigar' performances.

Expect the Storm to be clinical and the Roosters to throw everything at them, but struggle to get the required percentage of completions due to stupid errors and penalties. Melbourne know how to get the job done, but Smith/Grong are starting to become old and arrogant. I hope that some of our youngsters (that's you Connor, Latrell and Ryan) can teach them a few cheeky new moves, and take advantage of their superior speed/physicality.

All Gronk/Smith offer is 2 confident, experienced and steady sets of hands. They play clinical footy... which wins games. However, we have (arguably) a forward pack that can match theirs, and some cheeky youngsters in our spine. It'll be a good test for us!

Bullwogs just lost 36-0 when playing the Cows minus JT. I reckon we can do better than that.

I'm feeling good about this game, not convinced we'll win but I think we'll see our best performance of the season yet so it'll be interesting to see where that stacks up against IMO the best team in the comp.

A lot of good signs last week that we were starting to learn how to play with a halfback again and some real good aggression in the forward pack. I really like the balance of the side Robbo picked last week too and we get to run with that for another week.

Don't know about everyone else but I'm pretty pumped for this game.

    Go Easts!!

This is usually the first round in which the contenders announce themselves. Cowboys did the other night and with Bellyache giving most of the guys off the week leading up the Knights game will have them primed in Melbourne tonight.

If we get to within 18 we would have played bloody well and would have matched it with most teams.

        Good luck dudes...

I think it's the nature of our losses that has been the worst. We've been either close or ahead during most games, only to come up short at the end.

While losing s*x... I've actually enjoyed most games this season because they've all come down to the last play. We lose every time (which I'm jack of) but we seem to at least be trying to win.

Last week I even felt that the commentators were on our side. At one point there was a (legit) penalty against us late in the game and they went 'ooooh c'mon!!! The Roosters have had it so rough this year... can't they just let one penalty slip?'

I feel that we're on the verge of a win against a big team. Maybe not this week, but I think we've got at least one upsetter in us this year. Maybe Brisbane even? Their luck has been down a little and they are only just sitting inside the 8... to beat them and knock them out of the 8 would be sweeeeet victory. Would put Wayne's coaching legacy into question too, given how much talent he has bought for that team...

I hope we play well.... regardless of result , if we put in effort , and cut out the silly mistakes and dropped ball I'll be happy.
We were embarrassed last time , worst game ,I cant think too many worse that I've watched , and to lose to Smith again and again.... I hates it!

Can we just get through the first 20 minutes and not be down 12-0 ! We might have a game on.

I'm just looking forward to seeing Connor Watson again. If he can continue to shine until the end of the year will give me a bit more hope heading into 2017

Connor Watson and Latrell Mitchell have been the only shining lights this year and we have gone out and bought replacements for both of them..

apparently the NYC match was played earlier today on the Sunshine Coast, we won 44-32 and temporarily move to 2nd on the ladder, no news on who played for us.

Agree completely. It's gonna be hard to watch after getting smashed last time, but I am just keen to see what he can do. You'd think he'd be even better with his second start, with less nerves...

I dont think the Chooks will win but Im sure they wont get done by 40 again.
I just hope they are in the game & that they are competitive for the full 80. I got a feeling Fergo is going to have a big game.

Apparently Fergo fullback and Latrell to wing. Copley out and Aubbo in centres.
