  • Having had a bex and a lay down............

and putting myself through the pain of a replay i may have been a bit harsh in my summations last night.

The guys we had were predominately an under 20s outfit, i thought they defended really well and the effort was there, but lets face it, none of these kids are out and out superstars.

They are an honest bunch of toilers who try hard.

This side has lacked a creative spark / a genuine superstar since Freddy retired, until Carney last season.

For whatever reason the bloke is lacking confidence, i thought in the 1st 20 he looked very dangerous, yet everytime he put someone through a hole they dropped it, which put a dent in his confidence and he went back into his shell again, if just one of those passes stick, i have no doubt the real TC would have returned.

The refs were attrocious, Some of those decisions farcical, i have mentioned in other threads, so i will not recycle old posts.

The coconut twins need to be given a sit down, when FPN and JWH decide to play footy they are great players, it is the niggle and the brain explosions that put us on the back foot, if only they could harness that energy in to doing the little things right we will be a differant team.

Finally Riddell needs to be farked right off, it is getting to the stage of being embarrassing for this club to have him.

I was filthy they dropped both those balls from Carney. Atleast one of them was going through that gap over the try line - there was nothing wrong with the passes. Just hold the bloody ball.

I just forced myself as well to watch the replay and for me one player who can hold his head up was the fullback Rhys Pritchard no mistakes and was in everything looks very promising. Jake Friend was another who tackled and tried his guts out all nite..

Jake is an out and out goer who never stops trying. One of the reasons our attack is so non existent though is Jakes lack of penetration when he runs. He rarely troubles the markers, and we never seem to get on the rolls that other sides do. Maybe this is because Jake has to make 100 tackles every game, or maybe it's because he just doesn't have those sharp runs in his game.

I agree but last year Jake was getting go forward and made a lot of smart metres out of dummy half. I think all the tacking is wearing him right out.

That's exactly what's happened to Nathan Hindmarsh over at Parra. He is the defense in that rabble and that's burnt him out.

Three years ago, he was an attacking machine - now he's just a tackling machine.

The only reason a player makes over 30 tackles a game is because the others are bludging.

Anyone can score a try, look at that grocer in the Origin Legends game, but not many can defend well.

Friend made 62 tackles. Yet when Riddell came on, he was shifted to the backrow and was expected to take hit ups!

If this is the coach's doing then he has absolutely no idea at all.

Obviously is, considering he makes the interchange and positional decisions

Well, that sums it up - he's no good and last year was a fluke because of Todd Carney having mad skills.

C'mon madduke, give us a Piggy Riddell / Run Fatboy Run movie cover. I'll send it to him, might actually inspire a run out of the fat bastard.

                      Chook.
