  • Stopping the game for Injured players

Against the Warriors we saw SKD go down with an ankle injury, the referee did not stop the game, we were forced to make a substitution while defending, which anyone with any knowledge of Legue knows this is a no no, on top of that, SKD was forced to be carried/Walk around the field of play in order to obtain medical attention.

2 referees, 2 touch judges and a video ref missed that and allowed play to continue.

Against the Storm, beau champion hurts his shoulder, play runs 30 - 40 mtrs down field away from The injured player. The referee imediately stops play, the shoulder injury is sorted and Champion rejoins the Melbourne line.

The commentary team touched on it during the coverage, but i think it is a joke and such a disparity in interpretation on when to stop play due to injury.

Refs are not doctors, fair enough, but factors like type of injury, location on field, proximity to play and the TRAINER YELLING HIS BALLS OFF TO STOP THE PLAY should play into the referee making the desicion to stop play.

this is an inconsistancy that needs to be fixed.

Last nights stoppage of play was ridiculous considering it was a shoulder injury. He could easily have walked off the field

Muz, a great post by you which highlights YET ANOTHER situation where there is one rule for the Roosters and another fairer set of rules for those teams the Roosters play. Guys at my work reckon I have a "victim mentality" when it comes to how I feel about the way the Roosters are treated and that may be the case BUT when I see things like what you describe and other incidents, well, I feel justified.

During the live chat last night I bemoaned three penalties given to the drizzle that you will not see given to the Roosters for the same offences:
      1) second rowers not binding (to the capricious satisfaction of the ref) at the scrum
      2) the running of interference for the defending player preparing to catch a bomb
      3) JWH's penalty for walking off the mark when playing the ball

Most weekends I watch at least 3 or 4 games and pay very close attention to such things (yes, I know, I need to get a life) just to see if my "victim mentality" is real or justified and I have to say I've seen nothing in the refereeing of other sides that comes remotely close to the rear orifice violations that the Roosters experience week in and week out. Rant over ...

Couldn't have the Storm disadvantaged...must make sure all their players are back on side and in position before play is allowed to continue...LOL

It appears it has been decided on high that the drizzle are to be "looked after" as it is "good for business" in melboring.

                It was a horseshit stoppage.
