I believe we should really evaluate our coaching staff and personnel for next season. I would like us to get a decent attacking coach and especially a coach who can really focus on our general kicking. Andrew " Joey " Johns was supposedly the man to fix this but I have seen sweet **** all change. Also I would like us to ditch the Pom. We haven't developed at all as a side over the past few years and believe we should look into this aspect of our club. Thoughts ?

I'd love to see Tooves as assistant coach because him and Robbo are opposites in a lot of ways. (plus it would piss off a lot of manly fans)
I guess It all comes down to who Robbo reckons works well within his structure, assuming he has the major say in who he gets.
Well , I hope he does.

Braith Anasta's Wallet believes it is difficult from the outside to determine the impact that various assistant and specialist coaches have on the team and whether or not their presence is a hindrance or helpful. An example of this would be Jason "JT" Taylor who has not been particularly successful prior to or since leaving our club but by all reports he was highly influential on the team and his presence oversaw the beginning of our recent successful period. It is difficult to suggest who would be successful replacements as their roles and qualities are not as freely identifiable as that of a head coach. We could debate the merits of Trent "Robbo" Robinson with a certain degree of accuracy but it would be difficult to say whether or not Steve "Macca" McNamara has had a positive or negative impact on the team.
In my opinion.

It is interesting to note that a number of assistants from 2013-15 are now first grade coaches at other clubs - Taylor, Green - I'm sure I've forgotten others? Then there's specialist staff such as hi performance etc who are now with national or overseas teams.

Looking back at our last two comp wins, we had: Stuart, Carty and Pay; and Robbo, Taylor and Green.
It's quite possibly a case of confirmation bias so take my opinion with a modicum of sodium, but all of those men are genuine first team coaches, all adding weight to a squad.
Nick - throw the paper bags at Toovs and Cleary.Making Steve Naughton look like Vince Mellars...

Agree we should try to get Tooves. Cleary will probably get the Warriors gig or a head coaching role somewhere else by next season.
I think you will find also Carty, Pay and Green were not first grade coaches yet when they were assistants with us. Only Jason Taylor was. So get Tooves and a rising star I say.
Another thing, I say it's time for an avatar change.Last edited by Mad_Rooster_in_GraceLand; 06-26-2016, 12:22 PM.Originally posted by King Salvo 'Tedesco and Woods will be more than likely Dogs signings but both will give Tigers last shot - we are not in the race anymore'

Will a salary cap on support staff affect this? I'm sure that great assistant coaches are critical to the success of a side.
Things have to change off field as well as on. We can't be doing what we've always done and expect things to improve.
I'm so sick of the politics (even though I believe it happens at most clubs of course unless your coaches name is Bennett or Bellamy)Roosters For Ever

I like that.
JWH should be Club Captain.
