  • Captaincy problems..

Stating the obvious but the club seriously need to look at the leadership structure of the club.. As good as a player he is and as much effort he exerts every game, Friend just isn't a first grade quality captain.. Our situation wouldn't be as dire as it is with some proper leaders on the field.. You just need to watch a post match press conference to see the problems.. He has no idea.. The problem is we don't really have anyone much better.. The only players I think that could lead with some authority are cordner or JWH.. The problem with the latter is he isn't on the field the whole time.. I think its time to bite the bullet with him now and put him in a few years earlier than first anticipated by the club...

Aubbo would make a great Captain as well.

I'm all for JWH as the captain, the blokes a born leader.
Shame about the ludicrous interchange rule...........................

Give him the gig anyway, and make Cords or Aubbs vice captain.

Its JWH for me with cords as vice. Freind is half our problem that is why we have a a divide in the ranks. He cant captain for the life of me. I love his dedication & his work rate but half the team have had enough of him. He is not a leader, bad talker, prob with hastings, thinks he has to do everything. get JWH in there & let h do the taking by his actions. He was born to lead.

Round 15 and we still have zero on field leadership.

Just asking, how do you know half the team have had enough of him? I'm not being a smart ass but you see post after post of supporters claiming to know the internal feelings of the team towards certain players.
I never understand the fascination with airing dirty laundry out in public for any one to read. If players, coaches, club execs or who ever are telling people about the attitude or the feelings within the playing group then they should be let go immediately. How do you expect a team to bond and gel and play for each other week in week out if people are leaking stories left right and centre.

Anyone see the Cronulla press conference last night?

Talk about leadership, gallen mentioned that the final training session before the cowboys game was a bit 'loose', so he and michael ennis as the leaders got stuck in to the group and gave em a rev up.

I could see Cronk and Smith doing that at the Storm. Jt at the cowboys. Parker at the Broncos, etc, etc.

Who can see anything like this happening at a Roosters training session.

Maybe it does, maybe I'm way off, but I doubt it.

I was at the game Saturday night and I made a conscious effort of watching him.. In 25 mins not once did he organise one bit of our attack.. Not a word of communication or hand gesturing to other places.. You might say it's not a hookers job.. Well I tell you what.. Cam smith was telling players where to stand all night.. And that's still with Cronk in team, probably the best organiser in the NRL..

Make Copley captain. He has to add value somehow.

At the end of the day Robbo made him captain, not sure why but he did and doesn't have the cojones to take it off him. Blame Robbo!

Friend has shown he couldn't organize a root in a kennel. Pearce on the other hand...
